From what I understand of the plot of the movie, I think Toki Pona will only serve as a "universal language of goodness" that happens to be the native language of the alien, but we get to only see and hear those 6 words.

Well if I'm right it's gonna be even more dissapointing since the only words marked are:

- yupekosi
only one is pu, one is a joke, and you can't even make a coherent sentence with the rest

The lexicon is fine for the most part (kepeken is a weird one).
Finding a way to standardize multiple pi clauses would be nice.
Otherwise, I think that you'd probably be better off just making your own tokiponido.

The scapegoat is the animal that takes the blame for the sins of everyone and gets sacrificed to appease God.

If the scene describes them as cattle animals I think the distinction of what specific species it is doesn't hold as much relevance in terms of symbology, outside of just, it was a useful and valuable animal that was an easy source of food.
So the main distinction I would make with cows is size.

I don't claim to have deep theological knowledge, but I have a preacher in my close family. Goats gain symbolic significance mostly when used as sacrifice or as contrasted against the purity of lambs and sheep.

I would agree if not for the fact that a dedicated word for learning the language is actually a very useful concept to have, considering that is the continued experience of almost every user no matter their level.

I would argue the symbolic relevance mostly exists when contrasting goats from sheep, the rest of the time they just happen to be cattle people kept around.

That's the awkwardness of word reclaiming.
In this case I'm mostly arguing that the word is already losing usage, and with everything going on recently I think it's gonna plummet even more.
So I would be for putting that word to better use, in a context that still makes sense. Better than a nimisin.

I'm just pulling the racism example to say they're not relevant to public opinion.
imo the reason why they're not respected is because everyone is well aware that there is not a single linguist among them, it's mostly conservative politicians.

I believe that extending the meaning of "pu" from interacting specifically with the prescriptive sacrosaint book of "mama Sonja" into interacting with Toki Pona learning material, might be a more useful move.

Having a reputable source describe in full the state of TP and having that description get spread might devolve into any deviation from that standard getting corrected.

The problem is that describing the standard and having it become well recognized tends to turn it prescriptive, so I'm unsure if that ideal is ever attainable.
