I wonder why this hasn't been done years and years ago. So many resource packs have done this over the years, because it's trivial at technical level and is good both for the visual and game design.

I will say name tags and Saddles should have never been a rare item as those would be more common while saying like you found the legendary sword of Excalibur.

I have had my idea of the Totem of Undying being apart of a new ancient boss that was sealed away but that's an idea for another day.

I agree. I've been seeing people saying that having craftable saddles & nametags ruin the fun of exploring but items like those should be craftable but in the future they could always add new rare/legendary items. I've seen people suggest the Totem of Undying should be made rare again & not farmable
