I used to enjoy politics, UK and US. But this isn't politics.

Good god! When is this moronic clown going to shut up once and for all?! I can't stand another intellectually barren post, speech or interview. Why is the whole world letting him do what the hell he wants?

It's as if the Democrats in government have just given up. Apart from Gavin Newsome there is so little from them in protest.

Now PM Starmer and Pres. Macron have said they will put soldiers into Greenland to help protect it. So are we, the UK, suddenly going to find ourselves at war with America?!

Ffs! People are regressing to moronic levels of stupidity now.

A much better idea.

He's got the vocabulary of a small child. Really low level language skills.

I wish with all my heart that they would do something far worse to him than impeach the batstard!

“They took our oil”? It’s not America! America is now taking Venezuelan oil. Ie they will be stealing it.

Nicholas Nickleby is a favourite. Huge though.

I have a part collection of red cloth bound everyday Dickens. I love them. They were gifts to a young woman in the late 1800’s. But the combo of old font, small print and yellowed paper makes them increasingly slow to read in the lesser light of winter. I downloaded my current read onto Kindle.

My friends lived there. Twice. They loved it. It's wild. She wanted a flower garden so he had to build her a wall first as a wind break. They now live near Fort William. She & I were born and raised in Coventry. Neither of us could wait to escape the city. Shetland is way too dark in winter for me.

Dickens is a winter author for me. I did ask for The Warm Hands of Ghosts for Christmas, so that's in my pile. I liked the reviews. I'm just not up to horror. The Blaire Witch Project scared me half to death and NOTHING happened!

I want to read Dombey & Son, but it's a dry start. Have you read it?
January 4, 2026 at 5:08 PM
I was about to tag you. This looks like a good, but scary haul for me. Hope you, your husband & your gorgeous cats had a lovely Christmas. I am in the middle of winter cosy reading. It's great. Reading a ghost story, but it hardly counts as A Christmas Carol isn't scary & I've read it many times.

They don’t give a damn about the constitution. No one is going to force them to follow any rules. You have been taken over by Fascist devils in plain sight.

Imagine what she must be like. She married a horrible dead-eyed alien.
January 3, 2026 at 11:06 PM
We should have been doing it rapidly since term one, but we, especially, seem reluctant to even consider letting go of the non-existent “Special Relationship”, let alone standing up for ourselves. It’s stupid. We act like a rabbit in the headlights. As for that awful pantomime of a 2nd State visit…

She has honed the gap-toothed sneer to perfection. She's such a failure on all fronts apart from that.

We got the hazards. It rained for hours. Then over the first part of the night it froze. Then it snowed. There were cars in ditches all around and people reporting pavements in Daventry town lethal. I had to shovel the snow off the top of the ice and chip at it to break it before I salted.

He's not going to run it. He's going to asset strip it for his own pockets and perhaps a few crumbs for the dumb Americans who voted for him = TWICE!
You have every right to hate your nationality now.

What a beautiful view, much missed Magnus included. It also looks mild. It's really cold down here right now. The snow that came 2 nights ago is showing no signs of melting. My salted pathways to the logs, the shed (which is a kitchen store) and mum's front door are holding up well though.
