Blockchain forensics and transaction reversal are highly situational and depend on multiple factors including jurisdiction, timing, transaction type, and cooperation from intermediaries. Success cannot be guaranteed but we do our best. Always report crimes to appropriate law enforcement.
The influencer‑backed investment trap.
A huge following doesn’t mean a project is sound. The same person who promoted the platform also sold the fractional shares, then claimed he was unaware of payout issues.

If you invested based on false promises, gather all communications and transaction records. Forensic analysis can correlate promises with on‑chain reality.
I’ve helped many investors in this exact spot. Reach out if you need a professional trace.

The Fake Mobile App
Downloaded a wallet or exchange app from a third-party site? It could be a perfect clone designed to steal. Prevention: Only use official app stores and verify developer names. Solution: Funds sent from a fake app are still sent to a blockchain address.

The Phony Exchange Support
You get a DM from "Binance Support" asking to verify your wallet. They direct you to a fake site. This classic phishing scam steals keys. Prevention: NEVER share seed phrases. Real support won’t DM first. If compromised, act FAST.

The "Too-Good-To-Be-True" Investment;
I saw a token promise 5x returns in a week? A project called "HyperWaveX" did that last month. Wallet drained $2M. Prevention: If it’s hyped only on social media with no real product, it’s likely a pump-and-dump.

If I purchased scam fractional shares of the #Loganpaul “PSA 10” Illustrator, I would be filling a police report requesting the cert be deactivated by #PSAcard. How does co-founder Logan sell it through #KenGoldin on #GoldinCo after “buying it back” on scam platform without anyone getting paid out?

FILE A POLICE REPORT. This is essential for any legal/ exchange cooperation.
· For major thefts, consider professional crypto investigators (e.g., Chainalysis, CipherBlade). Beware of "recovery" scammers demanding upfront fees or your seed phrase.

Early buyers (often the scammers themselves) drive the price up. As regular investors pile in hoping for gains, the scammers sell their massive holdings all at once. This crashes the token's value to zero in minutes.
They launch a massive marketing blitz on social media, Telegram, and YouTube. You'll see bots shilling it, fake "audits," and promises of insane, guaranteed returns. The goal is to create Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) and drive up the price artificially.
Scammers create a completely fake cryptocurrency token. They give it a slick website as free Airdrops, a flashy whitepaper full of buzzwords (Web3, AI, DeFi 2.0), and often fake celebrity endorsements. It's designed to look like the next big legitimate project.

Fraudulent people invent a compelling story, a new "Eco-Crypto," a celebrity-endorsed token, or the "next big meme coin." They create a slick website, a fake whitepaper, and social media hype to look like a legitimate project.

You deposit crypto (often starting small). The fake platform shows HUGE fake profits to build trust. You're encouraged to "invest" more for even bigger "guaranteed" returns. This is the "pig butchering" phase, like fattening the account before the slaughter.

The "Evolved Apes" sentencing is a recent, clear-cut example, while the "Pig Butchering" phenomenon represents the scaled, industrial version of this scam. Always verify the legitimacy of any trading platform through independent sources and be extremely wary of unsolicited investment advice online.

Fraudsters artificially inflate crypto prices with false information, then sell assets for profit, leaving investors with losses. This has become so rampant these days and we all have to pay closer attention

The "Trust Wallet hack" was a targeted exploit of a time-limited vulnerability in a specific feature, leading to a limited number of victims, who were later reimbursed. It serves as a critical case study in software supply chain security for the crypto industry.

Announcing a "buy-back" without providing verifiable proof of payment to all fractional owners is a major red flag. In crypto, this equals a team saying "tokens are burned" without a visible transaction. Request proof or it didn't happen. Demand wallet addresses, transaction IDs, settlement list
Fractional ownership isn't a game.
A famous influencer sold 51% of a rare Pokémon card via his platform, then bought it back. Yet, many investors never received their payout.

Note: If a platform isn't a licensed security issuer, your “ownership” may be just a promise.

The Rug Pull
A seemingly solid project, active team, then... website down, socials gone. Liquidity pulled. Prevention: Check if liquidity is locked (and for how long) and if team tokens are vested. Solution: Post-rug pull analysis traces stolen liquidity through DeFi mixers and exchanges.

The "Government Official" Scam
A caller claims to be from the "IRS" or "FBI," saying you owe fines in crypto or your assets will be frozen. Prevention: No government agency will demand payment in crypto or ask for private keys.

The Impersonation ICO / Presale
Scammers create a perfect copy of a legitimate project's website for a "presale." Funds go to their wallet, not the project's. Prevention: Always double-check website URLs and official contract addresses from multiple sources.
