They also don't pay tax.

This is very true, but the people it displaces can...

The latter but not in the context of immigrants - rather focused on depopulation and the loss of the Boomer generation from the workforce. I have seen the pitch. And don't get me wrong, I think there are big problems with this but it doesn't stop them. And if you are desperate for a solution...

There is a third way and its already happening. Big Tech is selling AI to pick up the slack.

Not only is Keir hobbled by Boris' mess, but Boris is charging around like Alcibiades after he did a runner to Sparta and is siding with all the worst people to chuck shit everywhere and undermine the UK to try to create future opportunities for his glorious return. Like Alcibiades...

When Boris started trying to position himself as Pericles, all I could think was that he was a shit Alcibiades. I was just randomly thinking about how Nicias doomed Athens at Syracuse while out walking the dog and then I suddenly remembered that Syracuse was all Alcibiades' idea.

And you'd expect a judge nominated to oversee the review who is a freemason would have to declare and recuse, right?

This actually reminds me. Do we know if Musk is still having his regular chats with Putin?
December 7, 2025 at 8:36 AM
I stopped because I couldn't count. I was shit. Fun but too expensive to subsidise everyone else by always being the patsy. They were not right coded and weren't slow to take my money.

I think this is another reason I'm disturbed that the government has u-turned on raising income tax. We need that revenue.
November 14, 2025 at 9:43 PM
If they do this now, will it mean they have effectively blocked themselves raising income tax for the rest of this parliament?

What is wrong with his hair?

Is it this or is it creating a negotiating position? I drop my opposition to the tax increases but you fully remove the two-child limit.

And ironically, the disruption to this process creates a flywheel effect which reinforces public distrust of polticians and democracy through more inexperienced, poor leadership and decision-making as we face more and more challenges and crises.

I know what you mean. I just sometimes have to remind myself of everything we've gone through in the past 17-18 years. And that is without going back to the WoT. We do a lot of forgetting while still living with the tremors in a traumatised society.
October 25, 2025 at 10:17 AM
Were we actually in normal times in 2015? The Brexit vote didn't materialise from nowhere. I don't think much has been normal since the Global Financial Crisis and how it disrupted faith in the elites and institutions.

Who else has he taken bribes from?

Its going to create the sort of big tax issues that US tech corporations absolutely hate.

I keep wondering what we gave in return. Is this "investment" to show there is no need for a Digital Services tax? What's happened the roll out of the Critical Third Parties Regime in the Financial Services sector?

Brain worms. Both sides???

And then this is grimly funny at the end:
"Keir Starmer said some years ago that we face a choice: shouting slogans or changing lives.

We choose changing lives.

Securing borders.

Bringing down bills.

Protecting jobs.

Borders. Bills. Jobs."

So slogans?

As an ex-regulator, I find it really insulting. We had to try to clean up the massive mess after the GFC and now we are cast as violent oppressors. And its weird. I half expect a "Rise up bankers! You have nothing to lose but your chains!"
