...inspiring audiences from schoolkids to Heads of State, from California to Africa to Japan.

What a loss.

Much is being written about Jane's legacy - scientific and humanitarian - but I will equally remember her for the mischievous twinkle in her eye and her ability to hold an audience...

While still reeling from the news, I was asked to give my thoughts on the untimely demise of Jane Goodall.

"Gentle, determined, courageous, serene - Jane Goodall has lived an extraordinary life. Her death at 91 seems premature, so youthful was her energy; having travelled the world for decades...

Curious, gentle encounter with an immature herring gull on the beautiful beach at Mwnt, Wales, apparently having learned that visiting humans might respond to that plaintive cry by giving food. I didn't, but I suspect that once in a while someone responds with a tidbit... Gulls will be gulls!

Less than 4 weeks ago, I found a pair of wood pigeons had built a nest on an old chair, stored in the rafters of our open garage behind some ivy. Since then, the two white eggs have hatched and these massive chicks are growing rapidly... Such characterful birds!

Fox skull in a badger sett, near Stroud.
June 4, 2025 at 9:37 PM
Back to my local badger sett for a bit of badger archaeology... as they dig in what must have been a Victorian rubbish dump, they unearth bits of broken pots and glass bottles, including this @stroudbrewery bottle and a skull!
At first I expected it to be a badger's but it is a fox skull.

Switch to low light setting on my @fairphone.com Faiphone5 and capture a bit more #badger action...

First badger... 8.50pm
June 1, 2025 at 10:56 PM
What joy to sit in woodland listening to the evening chorus of robins, wrens and blackbirds, waiting for badgers to emerge.
First badger at 8.50pm, then a fox, and more badgers until even the low light setting on my @fairphone couldn't cope. And a pipistrelle bat overhead on the walk home. Lovely!

One place where #macaques are still abused for tourist #selfishselfies is Djemaa el Fna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in #Marrakech, #Morocco.
#InternationalMacaqueWeek is a good time to be working on a plan, watch this space...

Not only that, Olivier made the best speech of the night with the story of him being inspired by Zero 39, a crowned crane with attitude and now altitude, flying high, like Olivier!

What an amazing event #GITEXAfrica was gitexafrica.com thousands of entrepreneurs, students, dignitaries, officials gathered for three days of networking, panels and speeches.
My thanks to @sangeetalaudus & @gitexafrica
My topic was asking if Hi-Tech is a saviour or a threat to wildlife and nature.

Wow! Two amazing events in one evening. @Sophiegreenfineart's #SaddestShowonEarth exhibition @TheVaultsLondon
On the way, heard Prof Ed Hawkins @RGS_IBG on why 1 degree ave. rise matters. The connection between the two events is that wild animals are our allies in the fight against #climatechange.

Trying out Blue Sky thinking for the first time, so here's a happy heap of mountain gorillas, just chilling under blue skies in Rwanda after a morning munching wild celery and bamboo - at peace with each other and their habitat, in which they are the #GardenersoftheForest
Enjoy.
