@redrumlisa.bsky.social Case studies of Corby and Mansfield - with serious questions for policy makers in successive governments.
We can’t understand the geography of capitalism in our present moment without seeing how these old industries overlap with the new.

"Two Towns" features an interactive map showing how ex-industrial towns were not “left behind” but actively made into havens for low-paid work.

Yes @redrumlisa.bsky.social wrote this a week or so before the referendum. That’s when I knew Remain was fucked.

Brexit is the only way the working class can change anything | Lisa Mckenzie
Working-class people are sick of being called ignorant or racist because of their valid concerns. The EU referendum has given them a chance to have their say

That last line is the killer.

As a Brit when I go to the USA I like to flick channels between MSNBC & Fox to see how mental & tribal the US is. I'm over here on this platform watching. Yep the USA is mental & Tribal. You know not engaging with each other & refusing to acknowledge a different view isn' is why you've got Trump.

I'm trying people over here but apart from people moaning about Trump & photos of different types of mushrooms (not sure what the correlation is) Its a bit meh - I'll keep trying though. Its time we sat in the same rooms & had proper debates.

Not sure me & Blusky will work out our relationship I'll offer Blusky something I've written and we'll take it from there. My thoughts on #banningbooks

How dare they ‘decolonise’ Of Mice and Men?
Steinbeck’s Depression-era novel may grate with woke puritans, but it still speaks to working-class struggles.

Ha ha finally remembered my password. So I'll be giving Blusky a go. I'll start as I mean to go on over here. Inflation figures by our Government are bollocks. Rents up by 10% Energy 11% & bus fares 50%. Its still grim for the British working class.

I'm going to try it out here - I gave up on threads and Instagram & Facebook. Do I have enough interest left in maintaining any Social Media account now. Not sure.
