I watched a former close friend of mine go into training academy with the best of intentions to help the community. Kind, openhearted, wanting to help. In under a year he transformed into every bad police stereotype.
People say "there are a few bad apples", leaving off "spoil the whole bushel".

From my old social circles I know several police officers. They work in the city, but live in the suburbs/exurbs. The people they police live 30-60 minutes from their neighborhoods, and are viewed as a problem to be controlled, not neighbors to be helped.
