If you're seeing this, I encourage you to put the phone down and reconnect with what's right in front of you.

We aren't designed to handle the stream of information/misinformation that is constantly bombarding us through this little doombox. Take a moment to breathe and be kind to yourself. 😊

A quick search of a word stuck in my head showed this result:
"Futility (n): pointlessness or uselessness."
Interesting words in association were fruitlessness and vanity.

I know I'm not the only one feeling this word right now, how is it landing for you?

Quick #mentalhealth check in:

How are we coping at the start of the week?
What is one thing we did last week that we're proud of?
What is one thing we want to improve for this week?
Is there any way we're coping that isn't accomplishing what we want it to?
How can we change that?

I saw a bird today.

That's it. That's the post, send it.

What is a piece of #grandparents #wisdom that you've found invaluable over the years?

It's the little things in life that matter the most, like board game time with your spouse.

Her first time playing Apiary with me, and we had a blast! What simple things have you found #joy in this week?

Stumbled across this and boy... When I say the chord change in the middle STRUCK something in my soul... I love #choral music and #gregorianchants

I have no words, just HAD to share with y'all!

For those of us who hope to be voices of hope, it is exceedingly important to acknowledge when it seems like hope has dimmed.

Otherwise, the chance for healing and restoration is buried under the assumption that we are simply "too out of touch."

Instead, offer a glimmer of light in the darkness.

Why is Reflekt spelled with a "k"?

I'm glad you asked. Originally, it was intended to be like a beam of light reflecting off a mirror, but my logo designer told me that round letters work better for logos.

Now, I think it's fun and it brings me joy. So why not keep the "k"?

Aug 6, 2024. My son was still-born to the world. For a long time, it felt as if the world had ended, but it hadn't. It kept moving forward.

Even as a therapist, I needed help in moving forward with it - for the sake of my family, my clients, and most importantly myself.

#therapy is for everyone.

Your #emotions aren't your enemy.

However, if you've never been given space to experience them or been taught how to use them effectively, they sure can feel overwhelming!

#Therapy can provide a safe space for you to explore emotional processing as a learned skill.

The world feels crazy and out of control, so I'm using deep breathing and vagus nerve stimulation to ground myself.

What are you doing for your #selfcare today?

Well, I don't know about y'all, but I was personally clocked by this article. #sleep and #mentalhealth are so closely connected, I think it's a good reminder for anyone - therapists included - who struggle with sleep procrastination.
Sleep procrastination—or constantly putting off going to bed even when we know we shouldn't—is a common problem with potentially serious consequences. This is what drives it and how to stop it. www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-...

I see this so often in my kids when they're dysregulated about a small injury. The meltdown is more about being scared by what happened.

I think it's true also about general life stressors. Yeah, they're challenging, but the fear is what makes it unbearable, not the experience.

The holiday season tends to feel a bit chaotic with all the activities, events, and traveling. Coupled with shorter days and an uptick in seasonal affective issues, this can be a very challenging time of year even for the healthiest of individuals.

Be kind to yourself, friend.

May I offer a 3rd option? "It is better to partner with grief than to treat it as an adversary."

Grief can be a companion that helps us digest and heal from the significance of a loss - if we allow it to. A collaborative relationship renders conquering and deception unnecessary.

Been looking more into the #DirectPrimaryCare model (for my own benefit, but also with a professional interest). Really interesting concept, and I'm curious if there are any #healthcare professionals that have implemented this in their own practice who would be open to some brain-picking?
