Religion trains you to bypass your natural ability to perceive what are good/bad ideas. Even when there are brutally obvious reasons that an idea is a BAD idea & will produce bad outcomes…your own perception will always be trumped by “God said to do it = good choice w/ good outcomes” example # 9,989

Nothing more quickly dissolves the faithful Mormon critiques of exmomrons than spending time listening to ex members of other faiths endure the exact same useless talking points. “Where will you go?” Is not an inspired banger…it’s an worn out trope used by those who wish to control you

Guys I take it back, God lives and the on-going restoration is real. Mormonism is the true and living church. The heavens are open, and God is continually revealing further light and knowledge. Truly we are witnessing “the greatest manifestations of the Savior's power” as promised by Pres Nelson!

Yeah! Dumb parents! It’s all their fault b/c they aren’t preparing their children for the temple by teaching them the details that they specifically promised to NEVER (under penalty of death or dismemberment) reveal to anyone outside of the temple. Totally not the a church problem just lazy parents!

It makes me laugh that this story presented as some stroke of genius by church leadership rather than what it is: yet another example of the church only offering transparency when they have no other option.

Yes. Arguing between LDS folks and mainstream Christianity is exactly like arguing about Star Wars cannon…it’s not a metaphor it is actually the same thing. This guy walks headlong, full-speed into the point and still misses it entirely

Even Star Wars has apologetics…& this is exactly what LDS apologetics sounds like. Light saber duels got more action packed b/c ITS ENTERTAINMENT & that is more exciting…but instead of accepting that obvious explanation they generate this apologetic pretzel of an explanation to make it fit “cannon”

I think I have heard literally every single LDS apologist with any sort of substantive platform say this exact thing about the critiques against the LDS church…do they also think this dumb argument stands up when Catholics use it?

This clip is BONKERS to me. Not everyone thought all Muslims were terrorists after 9/11…that was just the fear mongering racists that produce the content on the news outlets you consume. I’m glad they learned their lesson about Muslims but I wish they learned the root cause lesson about Fox News

Has Jordan Peterson actually been reading the BoM…or is the idea of “try the thing and if it works keep doing it” so abundantly obvious that we should probably stop pretending it it such a deep concept that the only way to encounter it is divinely inspired revelation.

The way Oaks has to jump in to cover for Nelson because Nelson (THE ALLEGED PROPHET OF GOD!!!) did not know how to properly answer a direct question about his faith’s theological position…should be an absolute give away Mormon prophets are just the wizard of oz.
