A new academic year looms. In the spirit of fostering metacognition, consider having your students complete a self-assessment of their study styles, note-taking skills, or more. This takes the work out of it for you -- students automatically get information about responses. Try it. lnkd.in/gfawUWzC

I have taught over 15,000 students in the class,Now I get a chance to reach even more students. Yes, a bucket list item!!!

Just back from the WPA conference and it was EPIC. A refreshing reminder of how many enthusiastic, hardworking, and conscientious students there are. SO PROUD of my Lab @oregonstate.edu . Set a PR- 20 students from my lab attended and we gave 4 talks, presented3 symposia, and had 17 posters!!!!

Will giving your students a 48-hour buffer on assignments increase procrastination or result in lower grades? Not necessarily so!!! This just out, our assessment of the effects of an easy way for students to get extensions, and a buffer.

So many things to worry the educator. As someone teaching large classes with many students with nonbinary identities, making sure to keep walking the walk as long as possible in my own pedagogy and approach to science. Sharing it widely.

So interesting to reflect on different takes on priorities for the classroom. Was fun to play David to James' Goliath. There is more to college/class success that knowing the subject (content). These are some tough times in higher ed. A good reminder for us all to be more patient with each other.
