She/her. An account for B’s unprofessional life. Random 50+yr-old mom, trying to do my bit against dystopia. Discworld & Good Omens fan, Pokémon Go level 50.
Look up the first ever article in the New York Times to mention him. Or his comments about not wanting Black people doing his accounting. He is absolutely racist himself, but more in the White Citizens Councils mode than the KKK mode.

Speaking only for myself (sorry for butting in), this history means that Jena Griswold has too much baggage, when there are others who'd do a great job who do not: www.westword.com/news/colorad...

Not sure what the problem was, but I just now was successful in making the purchase 😁

Nope. Colorado.

I had the same problem - wanted a physical copy and got an error message saying that they couldn't ship it to my address (the other item in my cart was just fine, though).

You and all Black Women have been dealing with so much for sooooo long. And yet you've still done amazing things. We send you all the care, honor and virtual hugs that we can!

OMG, all the frickin time. And not just the white nonsense coming from prominent people, but random white losers - thinking of myriad examples but won't list them because nobody needs reminders of casual racism in their timeline :-(

Earned me a Look from the coworker, but tickled me, at least :-)
January 17, 2026 at 4:14 AM
I've had a few, but one that still comes to mind: in grad school, I had a coworker and classmate who was a new dad. We were having a group lunch with a visitor and the subject of my coworker's baby son came up.

Guest: What's his name?
Coworker: Cole!
Me (equally cheerfully): Like the slaw!

There are many benefits to being a Colorado resident who loves hot springs ;-)

*Pagosa* Springs. That's where a Denverite might pack someone off to take the waters in the 1870's. If they were OK with no actual bathhouses yet and things being a bit tense with the Utes. coloradoencyclopedia.org/article/pago...

However, I need to take that back - I am thinking of Glenwood Springs in the 1890's. The first railroad line was built to the area in the 1880's, so in the 1870's, it was too hard to get there. (I guess you could pack someone off there if you never wanted to see them again )

Oh, very much so.

The reason why Doc Holliday's grave is in Glenwood Springs (about a 4-hour drive west of Denver in today's vehicles) is because there was a large hot springs pool and sanatorium there. Pool is still there and quite popular.
