It's unfair and stressful that there's no easy way path to diagnosis, but it may help if you have access to a therapist while you figure out how to get evaluated; they can't diagnose but can help you through the process and teach you skills in the interim and are trained to observe common traits.

...there is no formal exam or test, and as far as I'm aware the only standard way to confirm is to observe response to meds (yes really!). Some may just want to consult with you and get psych evals; some may want you do to (expensive but quicker) testing.

Pyschiatry (not psychology) will be the path. If you're insured *at all* consult the coverage but would likely start with asking for a referral to consult from your primary care doctor.

If you're not insured, hope isn't all lost...

...I may or may not occasionally gush about some games I'm into! Tetris is one of them but it's very different from what I usually play. I'm figuring out how to talk about this part of my life and its impact on how I perceive myself and my own creativity while also protecting it. It'll come in time!

Bonus thing about me:

I'm very involved with the purple place and have been following this journey for awhile - I am eager to talk about it more but also never want these uh... streams to cross. Both are too precious for different reasons.

BUT!

#Writing

I'd still call myself a writer and essayist as I always have, but the unmasking bit (refer to ADHD post!) had the unfortunate consequence of throwing a wrench in my creative process. It's growing, and I'm learning to observe it for now. I'll talk more about this soon-ish.

#LA / #LosAngeles

I love living here, but it's not for everyone. It often pisses me off. There are many "FUCK LA!!" days, but I'm forever grateful I took a chance on myself to be here.

And I do it all without a car. I do drive, just don't own a car. It has pros & cons, but more pros right now.

#ADHD + #CPTSD:

I'm still learning to unmask. It's not going well. If you're an "ADHD is a superpower! NTs are the weird ones!" kind of person, that's great for you but not my experience. Diagnosis literally saved my life, but irreversibly changed it. I'm still grieving, confused, and in denial.
