“These are the times that try men's souls” is a line from Thomas Paine's pamphlet The American Crisis, published in December 1776.

Paine spoke out against the Tyranny of England. We must now speak out against the would be king and his puppet masters here at home.

“Stay Woke. Keep your eyes open.” Sung by Lead Belly beginning of last century.

These words are still true, perhaps especially true, today.

Don’t be fools by the bread and circuses. Too many have stood too quiet for too long. I have myself. Now I use my privilege to speak out.

The moon turns again from the fullness of light and pressure is relieved by the day. Yet soon enough it will wax once more and those who feel its pull will be pushed again to the brink.

When you see a child act out every time the moon is full, believing in lunacy as a condition, becomes real.

The in-box is always full. There will always be more to do than can be done. What makes the difference is how you prioritize your box. What you decide to spend your time and focus on. Is that email really important? Do you need to scroll through all the news?

Put it down. Live now.

What will it take to make people see the lies? Who can be trusted? And who is free to speak truth to power?
How many will have to die? How poor do you have to be? How many pie in the sky dreams must fail?

I’d say the answer is blowing in the wind, but that is a never ending cycle.

This too shall pass.

A powerful phrase that can alter your thoughts whenever you are out of balance. It is double edged but if you use it correctly magic happens.

Bad- this will end and brighter days are ahead.

Good- bask in the joy, live in the now, it will end too soon.

Inch by inch, row by row, going to make this garden grow.

The seeds we plant today with our thoughts and deeds will grow in ourselves and others.

What kind of seeds will you plant? Fear and doubt? Hope, kindness, and truth?

I will be planting seeds of curiosity and joy.

4 years. Many things can happen in 4 years. We can huddle in depression and despair what if ourselves to death. Or we can stand strong in our truth, come together, and shine a light on all the lies.

Do not go gently into the lying night, rage, rage, and don’t give up the fight.

Silence is golden and yet for some it is terrifying. The ability to sit in silence with your own thoughts is not easy, at least not at first. Some people need constant stimulation so they don’t have to listen to their own thoughts and fears.

Take time to learn to meditate.

“No energy vampires on the bus” quote from the Energy Bus.

There are people in our live that suck the energy out of you. This can be true in families, groups, or at work. For me, they are at work. Always undermine what I am doing. Time to stop letting them take my energy away.

Music. The creation of something new. Variation on a theme. Letting go of what it should sound like and enjoying what it is.
This brings me joy.

When I am low and depressed. When the world is too much to bear. When I need to slip away and find my center. Music brings me joy.

Let go. Let go of fear. Let go of shoulds. Let go of guilt. Let go of shame. These get in the way of who and what you truly are. Choose what you pick up and when you pick them up. Learn from everything you put down. Rejoice in the wisdom gained.

There are limits to what the body can carry. Weight limits are easy to identify. But what about mental or emotional limits? How often to we push past our limits without realizing it until we break?

Put down your burdens, only pick up what you need in the moment. The rest will wait.

There is joy in creation. Be it a meal, a song or story, a piece of clothing, or a tool. There is joy in the process, in the learning, in the creating. There is also joy in the giving. Watching the joy you helped create in others.

This was my joy today.

One thing a day.

Imagine if you changed and improved one thing a day in your life. Does not have to be a big thing. Sometimes the smallest change can have the biggest impact.

One thing a day. Who would you be next week, next month, next year. Learn and grow.

If you are a competitive soul and you remove all competition from your life, who do you compete with?

Competition isn’t good or bad but can be both. A healthy outlet can reduce stress but no outlet can build like a need not being met. Listen to your mind and body, find balance.

Reflexion on the past is important. See where you have been and learn from your past choices. But living in the past can blind you from seeing the present not to mention the future.

Be present in your life. Learn, grow, dream.

My lower back was hurting a lot today. I didn’t respecting my own limits and pushed beyond. When I tried to relieve the pain with stretching it would return within 10 minutes. Once I remembered, I need to stretch my quads, the pain reduced longer.

Balance is necessary in life.

In the chaos that is the holiday season, there is often a day where you feel like you are in the eye of the storm. Take that time as a moment of rest and recovery. Ground yourself. It is ok to not be doing all the things. Tomorrow is soon enough.

One of the hardest lessons I have ever had to learn is to forgive myself. This is a lesson I have to remind myself often. Giving myself the space for grace and admitting I am enough especially when I am struggling, is still a foreign concept. Forgive others is easy but not myself.

Twas the day before Xmas and all through the house, we were cleaning and prep for the up coming…

Remember, this time of year, to treat yourself with respect. Know your limits and stick to them even when it hurts. Don’t let the shoulds take over and ruin your inner peace.

I’m not one to repost things unless it truly speak to me. So if I do repost, I take no credit other than boosting the signal.

We are all part of a community where information should flow freely and false objective facts called out. Educate yourself and grow.

The longest night has come again. A time for reflection, rejuvenating, and rejoicing. A reminder that the seasons turn. All things come to an end, the good and bad. This too shall pass. Remember that in the darkest hour. This too shall pass.

Solstice blessing on you and yours.

Just for today, I am at peace
Just for today, I shall lay down my burdens
Just for today, I shall forgive myself
Just for today, I let go of expectations
Just for today, I will live in the present
Just for today, I will let the real me shine forth
Just for today.
