When someone commented "I love this so much!!!" on the sketch, I knew I had to give it color and finish the drawing. 🐦🦦🐊
A seagull named Fry, an otter named Yogurt, and an alligator named Relish sit at a table outside and enjoy some donuts. The background is a scenic sky with clouds around early evening / sunset. They appear to be under the shade of a tree.

Today I learned you can “borrow” books online and I used this knowledge to grab two pages from Michael Bedard’s “Sitting Ducks” (From someone else’s copy of the same edition I own physically). You all should find yourselves delightful things to read.
A page from a picture book called “Sitting Ducks” by Michael Bedard. The image shows a duck and alligator at a restaurant. The rest of the restaurant patrons and the waiter are alligators. The waiter points to the day’s special: Duck Soup A page from a picture book called “Sitting Ducks” by Michael Bedard. Pictured is an alligator and a duck in bed together at night.

The history of Sitting Ducks is amazing. It started as a lithograph print about a sitting duck with many more art prints created by the artist, then later had a picture book with an original story, before having a 3D animated cartoon with a reworked story which some remember fondly.

From "Sitting Ducks" by Michael Bedard. Published by Penguin Books, 1998. Presented without context.
Text from a 1998 Picture book called "Sitting Ducks" by Michael Bedard. It reads "As their friendship grew and grew, the alligator thought less and less about eating the little duck. They even tried going out together, but it proved to be very awkward." This text has no relation to the next image. Illustration from a 1998 Picture book called "Sitting Ducks" by Michael Bedard. An alligator and duck are pictured lying in bed together under a checkered blanket. The alligator and duck have a worried expression like something is keeping them awake at night.

Lately I've found myself sketching ideas and leaving them alone for a bit. Sometimes I'll get the sudden inspiration to draw it later on, and some of my favorite drawings started out as things I didn't fully figure out at first before working on and finishing later.
A drawing of an alligator named Relish. He is pictured singing into a microphone, facing to his left, the viewer's right. He wears a bowtie, a button-up shirt with sleeves rolled up, and pants. He holds his right arm out in the air with his hand open. A drawing of an alligator named Relish. He is pictured standing comfortably and facing left. He wears a button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and pants. Accessories include small squared glasses, an ID badge clipped on to the pocket of the shirt, a neck tie, and a belt. He holds the ultimate office accessory: A mug that reads "World's Best Gator" A drawing of an alligator named Relish who wears a button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a bowtie, and pants. It is a really rough sketch of this alligator facing to the left but in a 2/3 profile kind of view, noticing the viewer and gesturing like he's waving at them. A drawing of an alligator named Relish and a tiny duck the artist wants to call Bud. The alligator faces left and duck faces right. Both wear swim trunks. The duck wears sunglasses on his forehead instead instead on in front of his eyes. They appear to be dancing and smiling.

Oh that is also a perfect use for it, when you have the skills for it, an accurate replica is just as good as the real thing.

Now it's a frame for your favorite art print or piece of art, commissioned or gifted!

Honestly guys, always have one thing a person can tell you to let you know its really them if you get random or out of place messages from people you know. Social engineering and phishing attempts fall flat if they can't verify something secret like that.

An alligator named Relish showing off a wall of various papers and images that link to eachother via string and push pins. Like Charlie Day's character from that episode of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."

An example of "Just get it done first, you can make it perfect later". The original was a rough colored sketch I thought about sharing but I didn't. Some weeks later I revisited the pose, changed it up, added another character, and still roughly got the same feel as the original.
A colored sketch of an alligator smiling on top of a surfboard. He holds his arms, legs, and tail out and appears to be soon to fall off the wave. This version is a rough colored sketch. A drawing of a cartoon alligator on top of a surfboard facing right. He holds his arms and legs out and appears to be getting ready to fall off a wave. On his right arm is a small duck facing left with arms flapped out. They're both smiling. This version is the final version with color, linear, shading and effects. On the bottom right is a signature watermark that says Relish 2025
