So I may have done a little name change based on a domain I recently purchased.
My 'hehehoho' emote (based on a drawing from DuskyWolf31) with sunglasses similar to the Twitch sunglasses emote modifier. The misalignment of the sunglasses is intentional and makes the 'hehehoho' image even funnier to me.

I also realized that for the first time in like 10+ years, I'm participating in Halloween, by proxy of hanging out with people in VRC. It's nice now that I have a group of friends that I can partake in these activities even if it's just in VRC WEEEEEEEHH.

One of the big hurdles to my Blender journey that was giving me lots of anxiety is control rigs. I had the hardest time trying to do research on this and not get overwhelmed/upset.

But I finally attempted to make one, for the WerePinata. I’ll do one on my model but I wanted to practice first.

I got the ESP cameras more focused and tracking is better! There's still some things to iron out.... But it'll be good enough for tomorrow's VR stream 👀👀

It's rough, but it works!! I was finally able to get ETVR in a working state with my Index!!
The front of my Valve Index headset with the USB hub and controller boards for ETVR. The boards on the side handles the camera feeds, and the purple board handles the IR LEDs seen on the next photo. Lens of the Valve Index showing the mounted IR LEDs and camera that powers ETVR.

A BREAKTHROUGH HAS BEEN MADE!! Turns out the cameras I bought from Aliexpress have an IR filter on them, hence why I could not see anything from the IR LEDs. Not only that, but they are in a weird spot in the lens.

But after some scraping with an exacto knife, they can be removed!
A YouTube video by G0LDJAY that shows the weird placement of the IR filter. It requires twisting the lens off GENTLY with a pair of pliers, and taking the lens assembly off. The filter is at the end of the lens assembly, which can thankfully be scraped off with an exacto knife.

There is still more work to be done. I want to move around the UVs so I have more texture space for decals on the back and arms. I'll likely have to redo all the blendshapes as well. But this was a good learning experience overall and I'm happy I got to stream most of it.

So then begins the process of stitching everything together in the UV space. It was a long process, but was also therapeutic in a way. I wanted to make sure that the UVs were all packed into the same space that the original crop top hoodie occupied.

There will be further work on this, adjusting the islands so I have more space to add decals to the hoodie and spacing everything out more.

Of course, with editing the mesh and adding more to it, the UVs become a mess. When looking at the UV Editor in Blender, ALL the new vertices got packed into one place like a UV singularity point lmao. Trying to unravel all the vertices in this area results in.... this webby mess.
Low res (sorry I screenshotted this from my stream) view of the new jacket. The UVs at the bottom of the jacket are all over the place and not in line with the rest of the mesh (which makes sense since I added more to the original mesh). Another low res snippet, this time showing the UV Editor in Blender. All the new vertices I added for the jacket go packed into that one "point" that has stretched edges all connecting to it like a singularity point LMAO. UV Editor in Blender again. This time, I went and moved all the vertices out of that singular area so I can see all the faces that I need to move around in the UV Editor. It's such a mess.

The journey starts with extending the mesh of the crop top hoodie. Extruding downwards and covering the same topology as the long sleeve T-shirt that the base avatar comes with. Here's the original crop top and the full jacket extension done.

Here is the final result of the editing work. The bottom of the crop top hoodie was extruded down to the waist, making the hoodie cover the full body as it's my preferred style of hoodies. The texturing/UV work is its own can of worms that I will describe in the next post.

After a final exploration of the Dealers Den world on Monday night, our group was laughing so much with a 'gopissgirl' VRC print that was left behind in the world. So much so that Aegis laid down in defeat resulting in their model pretzeling (he uses Standable for FBT). Agentfluffer holding the gopissgirl print in front of the defeated Aegis. Agentfluffer has a campfire prop that he can place anywhere in a VRC world. He places the campfire under the crumpled Aegis. Last photo I took on Furality late Monday/Tuesday night. As Aegis laid down for 20-30 minutes, the campfire slowly roasted him. Usualduke sits down near the campfire enjoying the warmth. This was a great way to end my first Furality. I'm so glad I decided to attend Furality when I could during the late nights.

Me, Aegis, Duke, and two new friends we met after the 6+ hour VRChat outage. We wanted to get on out of spite since this was the first night of Furality for me and the only night Aegis can be up late at night during the weekend.
