I agree with your point about the film ending with unresolved conflict. What started out as a sunny, vibrant, lively neighborhood ends in destruction, rage, and injustice during the night. The debris and absence of people in the streets leaves the film on an uncertain and uneasy note.

I agree with your analysis. I thought the film was very well made and the mise-en-scène felt authentic. Watching it felt like being a local in the neighborhood witnessing the day-to-day interactions and seeing tensions rise between the different racial groups in correspondence with the intense heat.

by using uncomfortable close ups, low/high camera angles to make characters strong/weak, and loud repeated use of Fight the Power. Seeing the song go from a representation of self-expression and identity to a catalyst for an uprising due to racial tensions is a powerful statement.

Interesting how they included a shot of the model playing with her children to represent how “life” gives us wrinkles. Busy mothers often don’t have time for self-care and can become insecure about their looks in addition to aging which every woman experiences. This ad takes advantage of that.

Skechers are generally seen as an unfashionable brand that are worn by old people. By hiring a pro basketball player to endorse it there is an intention to change the publics perception of the product. If it’s good enough for a pro athlete to shoot hoops in, average people shouldn’t look down on it.

It seems like AI’s progression has moved way too fast and every corporation wants their piece of the pie at the expense of quality output. For example, Google is the quintessential search browser but their automated AI review function is garbage and uses unreliable sites like reddit as a source.

it’s really interesting how the same boomers and gen xers who warned us not to trust anything on the internet are now falling victim to misinformation and obvious AI slop on facebook. Confirmation bias, echo chambers, and conspiracy theories now run amok all over internet spaces.
