The system matters even if you aren’t playing it as designed. It’s the literal foundation for the game being played.

The system you choose is the agreed upon approach for the game. If you’re not using it RAW, that needs to be there.

Everyone at the table needs to be playing the same game, the same system used.

You can’t play a card game if one person is playing blackjack another poker and a third uno.

It’s has been my hobby, not my vocation. Market size does not matter to me.

When I started these were games of thought and critical thinking. Anyone making polemic statements is not going to fit at my tables.

I welcome newcomers but have no problem curating my games.

I’m a GM, not an evangelist.

Most of it, including the “they are us,” that he keeps repeating.

Trolls are trolls, first and foremost. If someone starts out with drek like that, (and I’m not saying Rob) they’re going to have to earn back the right to be “one of us.”

See the fable about “crying wolf.”

Yup, read the thread. Just honestly disagree.

Systems are not one-size fits all.
January 16, 2026 at 4:12 PM
Yeah, no.

That’s akin to looking at a workbench and saying “Which tool I use doesn’t matter.”

If course it matters. You can drive a screw with a hammer, but really, don’t.

It system matters based on what you’re trying to achieve at the table.

So use the system that fits the goal.

> “Honesty, integrity, respect, responsibility, kindness. There are many words to describe Trump, but ‘morality’ is not [one] of them,” Press wrote. “If it all depends on Trump’s morality, then we’re in trouble.”

There are many words to describe Trump, but none of them exist in that paragraph.

If the Administration is so confident that this was justified, they need to let the local LEOs investigate and if charges are brought, prove it to a jury.

This administration investigating this administration is just a clown circus.

"Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. It's the only thing that can stop me. I don't need international law." ~DJT

The quiet part, out loud, into a microphone.

That whole “shooting someone in public and getting away with it” quote seems almost cute by comparison.

What’s that old line? “We’ve already established what you are, now we’re just haggling over the price.”

They left out Iraq invading Kuwait for their oil reserves.

But we must let that one go, right? /s

Evidently is the same forfeiture when they pull over a drug dealer and confiscate the sports car he’s driving because it was bought with drug money. But it’s a country.
January 4, 2026 at 10:44 PM
Depends on the game.

Worked for the first games where the game was about the player’s imaginations.

Works less well in heavily mechanical games with player power creep.
January 4, 2026 at 7:43 PM
You’re assuming facts not in evidence, that the game was actually entertaining.

Where he will be tried, convicted and then pardoned after a substantial “contribution” that further lines sagging pockets.

It does. The .com for Twitter still functions just fine and redirects you to X.

The irony is that those making sweeping generalizations are often the ones with the least exposure to a wide variety of games and gaming styles.

And that’s my sweeping generalization for the day. ;)

Are we freezing out anything related to fraud from the government? Cause I know of a guy in government who was convicted of it…many times.

Also, no Maker Space near you? Sounds like what you’re looking for there.

I mean they did have a warrant to seize documents. Do they really still believe that “securing documents” them in a bathroom is reasonable?
