I don't think that would work.

So funny to me that they loudly take the position that will do great political damage to themselves and then meekly walk it back, helping themselves little if at all.

If I don't hear about how antifa has wrecked Portland I will be cancelling my subscription, not a dollar more for any of you.

Never heard of this. Fascinating.

Which is no shade on Paul McCartney and Elton John, to be clear!

Of all the uses of AI that we could live without, the uses that rely on works by people like Paul McCartney and Elton John seem like the uses we could most live without.

Can't wait until his MAGA brother tells the media that he (the brother) won't talk to him (Pope Leo) because he (Pope Leo) has abandoned Catholicism.

Worth considering on days the Discourse is running especially strong.

It's also funny that people in that thread are horrified that AI is being trained on their stuff. You're posting to an almost totally public website - did you think that would be off-limits?
renderjudgment.bsky.social
I don't think so either, but that's not what I was saying.

That is an airport every 3.65 days. Seems optimistic.

They're "stoking intra-party division" by...running the popular sitting governor? Do you hear yourself?
renderjudgment.bsky.social
Somebody's gotta make a FOIA request for these.

Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst noticed that Bondi flipped open a file during the Senate hearing and he zoomed in.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

The GOP now practicing Cliff's Notes Fascism

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.

This would either be an absolute catastrophe for Trump and hang around his neck forever or show that he's totally above political consequences. I can't imagine an outcome in between.

She's the sitting governor. She's going to have to run a pretty intense race, certainly in the general election and very likely in the primary, too. If people think she's not going to be able to serve out her term, much less serve at all, they're perfectly able to vote for someone else.
renderjudgment.bsky.social
Yeah, I guess that makes sense.
renderjudgment.bsky.social
I guess, but she's volunteering to spend a significant chunk of the rest of her life - maybe all of the rest of it, as you suggest - in an elected office she's going to have to commute to. I don't think that's something someone takes lightly.

Interesting to see the USVI up there - I knew Maine was the oldest state, but I never would have guessed that the USVI has it beat.
renderjudgment.bsky.social
It's an extremely white, extremely rural, extremely (relatively) elderly state.
renderjudgment.bsky.social
I'm aware of that, but part of being 77 years old is that you don't run for a new statewide office you're by no means guaranteed to win without wanting it pretty badly.
renderjudgment.bsky.social
Everyone knows they're old. The primary electorate can decide whether Mills' age is too big a problem or it isn't. If it isn't, it's probably because she's too valuable a candidate not to win the Democratic primary.
renderjudgment.bsky.social
I don't have strong feelings about who wins the primary. I think, at a moment when the electorate is more aware than ever before about the pitfalls of choosing elderly candidates, it's very silly to say that elderly candidates shouldn't run at all, even when they're the sitting governor.
renderjudgment.bsky.social
Party leadership doesn't actually decide who runs and who doesn't.
renderjudgment.bsky.social
Also, sitting governor, not former!
renderjudgment.bsky.social
The primary electorate should know that, then, right?
