The place: Himalayas, Nepal, Langtang valley. A picture from the pre-digital era, some 40 years ago, when one had to think whether or not a shot was worth taking, since the number of photos on the trip was limited by the amount of cartridges in the backpack.

While exploring the Chilean coastal area last year, north of La Serena, I came across this curious location with two old chimneys (and a third one in the distance). These were used many years ago to extract copper from the ore that was mined in the area.

Dirty snowball? These massive rocks on the Teide volcano, they say, are due to lava balls rolling down the steep slope and "snowballing" into huge bolders.

This picture is a few years old now, but its impact remains. This was in the high Andes mountains, close to te border between Chile and Argentina. Lenticular clouds showed up at the end of the day, illuminated by the last rays of sunlight for the day.
