And thanks to fans, more curious adventurers can get a chance to experience a story of accidental love, martial arts masters, hungry demons, powerful magic, and a lost legacy of divine power that became a unique, and endearing, classic for so many.

Sword and Fairy was a success for Softstar, becoming a major hit across PCs in greater China and inspiring a generation the same way FF7 would with its audiences on the PS1, eventually earning its creator, Yao Zhungxian, the affectionate nickname "Father of Sword and Fairy" or "Saint Yao".

Much of the combat is largely to earn cash for supplies and gear. It can also get a bit tedious, especially when you're wandering through massive monster-packed mazes and dealing with some wildly imbalanced encounters. On the plus side, monsters you slay stay dead (at least for a while!).

Though the basic gameplay still holds up, it has its rough edges. The story can unexpectedly thrust you into a sequence of encounters (pity if you didn't stock up on enough supplies or gear beforehand). But it's a good thing you can save anywhere, even with limited slots.

Helping color the story and the action is a solid score and detailed sprite work and animation. Combat comes alive as stages show battle damage from the use of powerful abilities and magic along with memorable, in-game moments. Party members weakened to near death even call out for help.

But the biggest star is the story. As you guide Li Xiaoyao through his adventure, he'll be pulled into in one scenario after another while growing close to his companions and they to him. NPCs met briefly along the way can unexpectedly hit you in the feels thanks to one, shared moment.

Following the story is fairly linear though at the same time, it's also big on mazes. As you progress later on, especially when hitting key points in the story, you'll find yourself winding your way through one spaghetti serving of paths after another, sometimes just to explore for goodies.

One of the neat features to the game's combat is that your party automatically recovers a chunk of their hit points and spell/ability points after every fight. So sometimes, it might be a good idea to try and run into a few weaker monsters to actually heal up before delving deeper!

This isometric, turn-based RPG has all of the basics -- your usual attack command, special abilities and spells that use magic points, and then spices things up with a combination attack command. It also boasts plenty of inventory devouring items from armor and gear to bugs you can weaponize!

A cada jogo ele fica mais novo, até mesmo nos que se passa depois
