i mean it sucks but it is a reality that it is a thing that costs a company money and it wasn't always assumed that they should take the hit for the customer buying the wrong thing

also I think there's a tendency to assume they have the cheapest price on everything when for a lot of consumables they've been subsidizing free shipping by baking it into the base price of the item. so you just assume everywhere sells your $4 shampoo for $8
