With a 24-hour call center, outpatient services, and a Walk-In Crisis Care Center among many other offerings, the Mental Health Association of Frederick County is changing the dialogue on mental health and offering support to our families in a comprehensive, meaningful, and adaptable way.

To stand in solidarity with our government workers, I requested my Congressional salary be withheld for the duration of this shutdown. I plan on donating my pay to nonprofits within the 6th District that are addressing food insecurity for families impacted by cuts to SNAP and other federal programs.

I also conversed with farmers and ag producers from Maryland who were equally concerned about these same issues as well as workforce issues, inflationary pressures, and the need to maintain USDA resources and research. As the only Marylander on the Ag Committee, I have the backs of all my farmers.

Under the Government Employment Fair Treatment Act, federal employees are guaranteed back pay at the end of any shutdown. That is the law and cannot be undone at the whim of this Executive Branch.
