Rep. Sykes is in Washington, ready to do the hard work of negotiating and opening the government. Yet, Republicans are no where to be found.

The cost of living is already too high and this administration’s tariff policies are making it worse. Rep. Sykes knows that tariffs can be a helpful tool to level the playing field, but the “tariff-fying” way they are being implemented causes more harm than good.

Sadly, this good faith effort to improve our government has been co-opted by extremists to make gerrymandering even worse.

And as Republican leaders double down, they are making their intentions known that they do not care about the constitution and they do not care about the citizens of Ohio.

Gerrymandering was supposed to be a relic of the past in Ohio when voters adopted a constitutional amendment to end partisan gerrymandering.

Today, on the two-year anniversary of Hamas’ horrific terrorist attack in Israel, we remember the thousands of innocent people killed and the 48 hostages who remain missing, including two Americans.

Every person deserves to live free from fear and violence. This #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth, Rep. Sykes reintroduced the Safer Homes and Families Legislative Agenda – a slate of bills that reflect our promise to create safer communities where every person can heal, thrive, and live with dignity.

Republicans already took Medicaid away from tens of millions of Americans, and now they’re trying to strip healthcare away from 4 million more by not extending the Affordable Care Act Premium Tax Credits.

Democrats are fighting for affordable healthcare and lower costs. Republicans shut down the federal government instead of working across the aisle for the American people.

Rep. Sykes works for you. Republicans are working for billionaires.

Rep. Sykes visited the CAK Airport to thank its employees, many of whom are federal employees and are feeling the effects of the government shutdown.

#OH13 has 5,000+ federal workers who are our neighbors, postal workers, VA staff, air traffic controllers, and more, who keep our community running.

Our largest employers are healthcare systems and Republicans' inaction could cause thousands of our neighbors to be laid off.

Republicans' failure to extend ACA tax credits is not only tragic for the 6,000 and counting families who have already been kicked off their healthcare, it will also be a detriment to our local economy in #OH13.

Republicans failed to extend the ACA tax credits in the Big Ugly Bill, leaving the 32,000 people in #OH13 who are covered under the ACA vulnerable to losing their health care. 6,000 already have. Yet, Republicans had no problem making permanent large tax cuts for billionaires in the same law.

In the Big Ugly Bill, Republicans gave away over $5 trillion in tax cuts to the top 1%, and are forcing you to foot the bill by raising health insurance costs for those with Affordable Care Act plans.

Instead of meeting the needs of seniors, veterans, and families, Republicans in Congress have chosen to leave town and shut down the government.

From housing to food to healthcare, costs are too high right now, which is why Rep. Sykes is working for YOU in Congress to make things more affordable. Meanwhile, Republicans are refusing to extend the ACA Premium Tax Credits, which help thousands in #OH13 save $720 annually on their healthcare.

Republicans control every level of the federal government. Rather than working to avoid a government shutdown, House Republicans have skipped town with no resolution in sight. Rep. Sykes is ready to work with anyone to keep the government open and keep healthcare costs low for millions of Americans.
