I visited trailheads damaged by the Bear Gulch Fire firsthand and spoke with volunteers and federal workers about the road ahead. Our federal workers are doing their best to keep us safe while working without pay — the least we can do is look out for each other and make their jobs a little easier.

In Aberdeen I heard from neighbors whose lives depend on the ACA and Medicaid — and who are terrified. Premiums could rise $1,330 on average here, pricing out 80,000 Washingtonians. This isn't about numbers — it's our neighbors' lives. I'm fighting for you.

I stood with labor leaders and community partners today to say: federal employees are not bargaining chips. They're nurses, park rangers, and shipyard workers doing mission-critical work. They deserve to be paid without politically motivated layoffs hanging over them.

I’m introducing the Emergency Responder Protection Act following the detention of crew members battling the Bear Gulch wildfire.

The bill codifies Biden-era guidance prohibiting immigration operations at active disaster response locations.

I demanded accountability, now I’m legislating solutions.
