Our immigration system is broken and hasn’t been meaningfully updated in decades.

That’s why today I introduced a comprehensive, bipartisan immigration reform bill known as the Dignity Act.

Federal employees and servicemembers are set to miss their paychecks this Friday, yet Republicans still refuse to even *meet* for negotiations.

It’s because they want to take YOUR healthcare away and they’re hoping they distract you.

ACA tax credits are set to expire at the end of this year, but rate increase notices are already going out.

Here are just a few of the ways these subsidies help El Pasoans. They’re all reasons I’ll keep fighting.

"My wife is disabled and has several illnesses that I cannot afford without insurance. The ACA has been a tremendous blessing. Without it, medical expenses would drive us to bankruptcy!"

These are called Pro Forma sessions and have to happen at least every three days for complicated procedural reasons.

HOWEVER, when Democratic members rose and asked to be recognized so that we could call a vote on our proposal to fund the government. We were ignored and Rs adjourned the House.

The absent House Republicans may claim, “We’ve already passed our bill!”

That’s true, but they did so knowing it would fail in the Senate. You can't blame a shutdown on us when you present an unworkable "solution" and then skip town.

Instead of negotiating with us, Republicans have resorted to spewing outlandish lies about what Democrats want in the hopes that they'll distract you with culture wars.

No, we aren't fighting for Medicaid for undocumented immigrants or transgender surgeries.

Republicans created a healthcare crisis with massive Medicaid cuts to fund tax breaks for millionaires, and the President has ignored the law by cutting Congressionally funded programs and firing employees.

Meanwhile, there is another healthcare crisis: expiration of Obamacare subsidies.

I talked to and have casework for many, but my office and I are continuing to try and get more information. You may not hear updates as this involves quite a bit of the detainees’ private information, but the work continues on our end!

Some men had work permits that were canceled, or were in legal proceedings to adjust their status when they were apprehended.

Many of the men we spoke to had come from Florida's "Alligator Alcatraz," which was shut down by a federal judge, and described terrible conditions there.

The Republicans refusing to extend healthcare tax cuts (that'll cause premiums for Americans to SKYROCKET) are the same ones who voted to give the ultra rich tax cuts...
