Iowa Republicans have tanked our economy with reckless budgeting and failed economic policies, leaving us dead last in the nation. We have a better plan: lower costs, stronger communities, and real solutions. Iowans deserve leaders who will fix the mess, not the ones who created it.

This year, we secured paid parental leave for state workers, which was an important step forward. Now it's time to make sure every family in Iowa has the same opportunity to bond and care for their new child.

With 90% of our kids in public schools, supporting them is how we invest in Iowa’s future. Instead, GOP lawmakers continue to shift money from public schools to private schools. We believe public money is for public schools.

Today is debate day for HF 583 which would remove civil rights protections for transgender Iowans.
I extend my sincere appreciation to those who will spend their time here at the Capitol making their voices heard.
This bill is a hateful and mean-spirited disgrace.
