Testing for radon is a common sense solution to protect the health of children across the state of Iowa, not just those in public schools.

I proudly co-sponsored this bill and already submitted a similar bill for the upcoming session.

Due to the federal shutdown, 263,000 Iowans are at risk of losing their food assistance. Today, I sent a letter to the Governor and Attorney General urging them to take immediate action to ensure Iowa families can keep food on the table.

My bill, which Republicans refused to acknowledge, would encourage citizens to invest in resuable bags and allow local governments and municipalities to collect revenue from the sale of single-use plastic bags.

Iowa’s budget deficit is set to reach $1 billion this year. Republican lawmakers’ endless tax breaks for big corporations and the wealthiest Iowans, along with unchecked private school vouchers and failed ag trade policies tied to tariffs, are driving our state into the ground.

The teacher shortage is holding Iowa kids back. While others play politics, Democrats are focused on supporting teachers, funding schools, and putting students first.

🚨 IPERS and public pensions are under attack. 🚨
Gov. Reynolds’ DOGE Taskforce just recommended gutting retirement security for 470,000+ Iowans. This is a massive threat to workers and our economy.

One year ago, Republicans put a dangerous 6-week abortion ban into effect in Iowa. This extreme law strips away reproductive freedom and puts lives at risk. Iowa House Democrats will continue our fight to restore rights and protect access to care.

Iowa Republicans have tanked our economy with reckless budgeting and failed economic policies, leaving us dead last in the nation. We have a better plan: lower costs, stronger communities, and real solutions. Iowans deserve leaders who will fix the mess, not the ones who created it.

This year, we secured paid parental leave for state workers, which was an important step forward. Now it's time to make sure every family in Iowa has the same opportunity to bond and care for their new child.

Republican Medicaid cuts are pushing 20 rural Iowa hospitals closer to closure. These hospitals rely on Medicaid funding to stay open, and without it, entire communities are left without care.

With 90% of our kids in public schools, supporting them is how we invest in Iowa’s future. Instead, GOP lawmakers continue to shift money from public schools to private schools. We believe public money is for public schools.

Today is debate day for HF 583 which would remove civil rights protections for transgender Iowans.

I extend my sincere appreciation to those who will spend their time here at the Capitol making their voices heard.

This bill is a hateful and mean-spirited disgrace.
