As we mark two years since the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, I am remembering the more than 1,200 people murdered and the 240 people taken hostage. It is long past time for the hostages to be brought home.

As Republicans use Americans’ health care as a bargaining chip, Democrats will continue fighting to protect their care (2/2).

After my visit to the Emergency Department at the County Hospital, I took a moment to highlight the urgent need to extend tax credits to make health care more affordable for American families (1/2).

This Administration and Congressional Republicans have instituted the largest transfer of wealth in American history from working families to wealthy billionaires (2/2).

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office issued a report outlining the impact of the Trump Administration’s fiscal policies including tariffs and the Big Ugly Bill on American families. The data is clear – the wealthiest 1% of Americans will profit while the 99% loses (1/2).

I will continue working to reopen this jewel of Contra Costa, ensure the hardworking National Park Service employees are compensated, and the government is working for the American people (2/2).

I stopped by the John Muir National Historic Site yesterday which, due to the Republican shutdown, is shuttered and its employees furloughed without pay (1/2).

I will keep working in Congress to ensure adequate funding for research, which is critical to our fight for a cure (2/2).

As a cancer survivor, it was an honor to join the American Cancer Society Relay for the Life this weekend to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones, and recommit ourselves to the fight to end this disease once and for all (1/2).

Blood Cancer United’s Light the Night is an event near and dear to my heart. I was glad to have the opportunity to join them this weekend to bring awareness to this disease and bring hope to for a cure.

Today I visited the emergency room at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center to hear from health care providers about the impact of recent funding cuts to health care. When more people in our community are uninsured, they show up in the emergency room sicker, placing a strain on the entire system.

I rode along with Meals on Wheels this afternoon delivering food to seniors (1/2).

Republicans know they are on the wrong side of the fight for affordable health care. It’s why they are turning to blatant lies in an attempt to paint @housedemocrats.bsky.social’s fight as anything other than a fight to keep health insurance premium costs down for American families (1/2).

Wishing all those observing Yom Kippur today an easy and meaningful fast and a day of peaceful reflection and renewal. G’mar chatima tova.

This was apparent today as I walked through the halls. You know who else isn’t here? House Republicans (2/2).

In addition to its devastating effects on federal workers, SNAP recipients, and Meals on Wheels beneficiaries, the Republican government shutdown also means Americans aren’t able to visit our beautiful Capitol and experience its rich history (1/2).

Just the same way that Lucy continually breaks Charlie Brown’s trust and deceives him, Republicans promise Democrats compromise and reasonable action and then pull the rug out from under us and the American people (1/2).

With government funding set to expire and the health care of more than 20 million Americans, including tens of thousands of Californians here in the East Bay on the line, it is shameful that Republicans are refusing to work in a bipartisan manner for the good of the American people.

I spoke with @eastbaytimes.com last night about what’s on the line ahead of the government shutdown and why House Democrats refuse to cave to Republican demands to strip health care from millions of Americans:

Mass federal furloughs possible in Bay Area if government shuts down
A federal government shutdown, the first since 2019, would land with a thud in the Bay Area.
