❓ Can CDR reverse agroecological drought due to atmospheric CO2 emissions?

A new RESCUE-funded study highlights that drought increases in hotspot regions cannot be symmetrically reversed by CDR, and the need for long-term drought adaptation planning.

🤝 Last week, RESCUE participated in a joint policy meeting hosted by @esm2025.bsky.social

This brought together policy officers and European projects with common themes & approches (OptimESM, TipESM, ClimTip, nextGEMS) to present their latest policy-relevant results and discuss the research impact.

🌍 RESCUE recently participated at the Barcelona Science Festival, bringing science closer to society!

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center team spoke about carbon removal and played an educational game with attendees, which was developed for the RESCUE project!

🌳 Afforestation and reforestation (A/R) for carbon removal could play an important role in low-emission scenarios. But Earth system models disagree on the extent and spatial distribution of A/R needed. A recent RESCUE paper explores this, and how to improve future projections.
