Thinking about this from a cold financial viewpoint, more diagnoses => more treatment => more money. More generally, although R&D can be slow and expensive, I think companies should appreciate the end product.

Think about how many millions of people already go to an eye doctor every year to get their glasses updated and get their retina's scanned anyways. There is definitely potential although as you said, they'd have to be willing to upgrade equipment/software.

One of my goals for sharing this is that maybe it will raise awareness and speed up the development of tools leveraging this technology. Getting an early diagnosis for degenerative conditions with something as simple as a retinal scan has the potential to alter lives for the better.

Honestly the US should require sellers to put the price you pay at the register on the merchandise instead of adding taxes in afterwards. That way it would be easier for customers to find things like this.
