A husband to a tremendous woman, a father to a hilarious son, a mind keenly focused on life and how we can make it better for all.
Thank you for taking one for the team. I know how ugly it is. My 13 yo son is struggling with what his future looks like and I point to people like you that are fighting for his future. I want him to see there are good people on his side.

As someone who deeply cares about what is going on, but is living in my

7th yr of burnout,

I’m so weary of people judging others for doing what is best for their mental health. Nobody really knows what others are going through. Grace matters.

I have never been more convinced that a “pure” and generally unopposed ideology can’t survive long as a form of government. We, as flawed humans, desperately need the oversight of opposition parties just as powerful as the ruling party to hold them to account. This balance ≠ centrism.

I don’t know if I’ve ever known the court to do anything as reckless as they did in giving him cart blanch. It’s bad enough to hand over power to someone who can make decisions, but this man, it’s like they loaded up a Russian Roulette and pointed it at the country.

The right want to view government as a corporation where the CEO is the undisputed ruler. But, thank God, that isn’t how our constitution and the rest of the relevant laws built up our great democracy. Because the framers understood distribution of power and responsibility.

It’s funny because whenever I heard the right lamenting the “deep state,” I knew there was a bureaucrat somewhere who’d obeyed the law and adhered to their oath to the constitution.
My sense has been that civil servants have always taken their responsibilities deadly seriously. So this memo tracks.

It’s called quality with wit.
And a tendency to speak the truth in a time of darkness.
Kudos to you and I know I don’t even need to say “keep up the good work.” ;)

Seriously big news! This is huge. Congratulations, on the well earned recognition this signals.

@ragnarrox.bsky.social I one mentioned to you that doing things like showing the vulnerability you did when talking about your friend during your Still Wakes the Deep essay is how we change the world. That’s still true today. Keep up the good fight my friend. Stories matter.

I’m honestly beginning to wonder if this administration will last six months let alone four years. They are going to hurt way too many people way too quickly and are being so blatant about it that they may end up radicalizing even the most apathetic constituents. Call your reps!

When shock and disgust are the order of the day, one must shake off the apathy intentionally instilled over the last few decades and act like our nation depends on immediate action.

Because it absolutely does.

Trump seems to be proving out that old saw, “possession is 9/10s of the law.”
Who needs proper paper trails when you have admin rights to the nation’s software systems.

No money for you!
No money for you!
And no money for you!

Big picture: when villainous governments unmask to this extent, they’re usually done “listening” to the people. Be prepared for electoral subterfuge from here on out.

To all who claimed it wouldn’t be that bad. Less than two weeks in and it’s worse.
We’re speed running the end of the America we knew. Perhaps even America itself.
