Advocating for the return of trains on Vancouver Island
The Ministry of Transportation and Transit's Goldstream project is a $162 Million waste of your tax dollars. No, it doesn't add a lane.

That $162 Million could be repurposed to restore rail travel from Victoria to Cobble Hill.

What if the tracks carried a revamped commuter train whisking you anywhere from Victoria to Courtenay?

Local e-Bikers Club riding on trails beside the rails argues against tearing up the tracks.

The vast majority of Islanders see the synergy of rails and trails working together to support people of all ages and abilities, and mobilities!

Now, that's community connection.

Talking about freight on the island corridor isn't as sexy as talking about modern passenger trains, but it should be!

The capability already exists on the island through the contracted operator, Southern Rail of Vancouver Island.

Nanaimo is on track!

Nanaimo has signaled to senior levels of government that they intend to use the rail corridor by including the island corridor in their long term Transit-Oriented-Development plans, and continuing to build out trails beside the rails!

Has your council?

Sooke is a great example of why we need to keep our rail corridors for rail.

Conversion of corridors to trails as a means to preserve them for the future is a fallacy.
