Wildlife artist, lover of the wildlands and wildlife. Retired major crimes police detective. In 23 years of service, I never shot anyone or caused anyone to need medical assistance. I never had an excessive force complaint.
Just the gesture I've been expecting. This is how Hitler's Germany began. Fools voted him in and democracy went out.
Original photo was by CNN video. Modified only to make this point.

Atatiana would not have provided the naysayers with any ammunition. She was someone that everyone could have gotten behind, regardless of race and I believe the movement would have had more support.

He shot and killed her through her bedroom window. This innocent woman would have been the better face for the BLM movement. She was a law-abiding woman doing nothing wrong when the police officer killed her in her own form.

While there was no excuse for the killing of Floyd by police officers, and I would never condone it, he was a convicted criminal. Atatiana Jefferson was not a criminal, legally owned a firearm, and was murdered by a white cop who she didn't know was on her property.

After hearing someone outside she went to her bedroom to get her lawfully owned firearm. At the same time, she thought there was a prowler outside. The officer saw her with her firearm in hand and shot her through her bedroom window. She was killed. He was fired, arrested, and convicted of murder.

A white Dallas-Fort Worth officer noticed the open door at night and decided to investigate. There may have been a problem inside. He never announced his presence. He began to look around outside her home.

Atatiana, an African-American woman had been in her home with her nephew who was playing video games. She had left the front door open that night because it had been hot and she wanted to cool down her home.

When the Black Lives Matter movement started I expected that Atatiana Jefferson would be the face of that movement. She was killed inside of her own home by a white officer who shot her through her window.

No one has been more appalled than me when seeing the abuses by too many police officers around our nation. I had never thought that I would feel ashamed of my former profession. I left it due to injuries incurred during marijuana eradication, the year before it was legalized in my state.

My being a retired police detective might give pause to some of those here. Let me say first that I did this job to serve my community. I've always been one to but in when it seemed someone may be injured. Joining the police force allowed me to do that legally.
