The new issue of @retrogamermag.bsky.social is out and we’re celebrating 25 years of @creative-assembly.com Total Wars series.

Would look cool, but it's not those guys.

My favourite Thunder Force game.

This sounds really interesting. I'm fascinated by what drives people to collect, how they can realise they've perhaps gone overboard and what steps the should take when first starting out. Shame I'm in the UK.

The next issue of @retrogamermag.bsky.social features one of my favourite games of the Nineties on the cover, but will you be able to guess what it is?

Yup, they do great work. I bought a load last Xmas in the steam sales. Spent about £50!

It’s great to know that classics like Chronotrigger are still getting enjoyed by a healthy number of people. 170 gamers currently enjoying the PC version via Steam.

Certainly not practical to do now, sadly.

252) We once ran a series of two-page spreads in each issue asking for Gaming's Greatest Icon. We quietly dropped plans to run the article after about five months with it was clear there was very little interest in it.

251) My favourite (quote ever is this one from Seamus Blackley in the Xbox issue (174).
"When it was looking bad, people called it the 'Coffin Box'. Your career's in the coffin if you work on that. [...] I'd say, 'It's going to succeed,' and then I'd drive home crying"

250) One of the things Jon Wells introduced to the mag as designer were photo shoots. They were really fun to do, but quite time consuming and we rarely carried them on after he left for Sci-Fi Now

249) The Next Month page used to be spread across two pages but was eventually dropped down to one as the extra space wasn't really needed.

248) For a short amount of time, Luke Albiges came onto the team as associate editor (155). The plan was for Luke to eventually take over the mag while I would move onto our new retro mag. It obviously never happened.

Funnily enough I watched two episodes and found it rather dull. Weird because I think Apple is easily the best service at the moment. Just didn’t grab me.
retrogamerdaz.bsky.social
Fair enough. Did you watch it the once, I had a similar experience with Blade Runner 2049 the first time I watched it but it’s really grown on me with subsequent watches and I prefer it to the original.

Restarted The Third age as I’ve now added achievements to it. Crazy what you can do with emulation nowadays.
retrogamerdaz.bsky.social
Nice. Would watch it myself if I was feeling a bit better. Enjoy

That’s interesting I thought the structure and pacing was miles stronger, personally.
retrogamerdaz.bsky.social
I thought it was fantastic, personally. The second is even better.

Mad that you can add achievements to retro games
