On this day 37 years ago Freddy's Nightmares (also known as A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Series) premiered. On the show, Freddy acted as host, introducing the stories. Not perfect, but a great way to get your Freddy fix between films.

A lot of first timers in the theater. I was listening to them talk about the movie in the lobby. Great to hear people passionate about movies.

Maybe its been done, but simple idea. The main villain in a new horror film series' one power is that they disrupt mobile phones.

Really nice work. I always found Pennywise more unsettling because he could/would appear in daylight and seem even scarier than in the dark.

Thanks! I will check definitely this out.

Well said. I like a scary clown as much as the next person, but its too much. Not everything needs to be a clown.

Its just too many clowns nowadays. Enough already.

I didn't have these when I was growing up in my area, but I started using them to organize my D&D as an adult.

Have you seen Scott Serkland's project around these? He even has a template available to download.

In the 1970s Brigantine Castle cast a dark shadow on the Jersey Shore. This haunted attraction didn't last long, but with its memorable advertising and foreboding appearance, it has remained well-remembered. Today on the Retroist I look at its history.

That has become a big consideration for me with my cereal buying. I generally float now from sale to sale for my purchases.

I don't normally eat Wheaties, but I really appreciate a retro box design.

(I would prefer it not say "Collectors Edition" on it though.)

This morning's cartoon is Season 1, Episode 3 of Scooby Doo, Where Are You!, Hassle in the Castle (1969).

Only the first two episode of the series has custom title cards, after this, this is the format. Such a shame.

One of the earliest McDonald's translite signs is this circular, vacuform Jack-o-lantern. Not just a cool vintage Halloween item, but also one of the centerpieces of my whole McDonald's collection. (1967)

Whiz Kids premiered 42 years ago today. It was an adventure/detective series that only ran for 18 episodes starting in 1983, but made an impression on a lot of us lucky enough to catch it at the time.
