I learned today that that there is a known issue with the heat sink on this vintage of MBA. I’m going to try the mod and see what happens.

That was one of my favorites as a kid because it was easy to sit down and play a quick run or two. That still makes it great today.

I’m sure I checked the clock signal earlier, but the problem was intermittent and strange, so I guess the crystal finally gave up and died completely.

I’ve got a springy long metal pin that came with mine. Of course, the spring is just something to hold onto since the rest of the pin shaft gets hot.

I took one apart years ago to prepare it for a new polarizer since it suffered from vinegar syndrome, then I never bought the polarizer material, so it has sat deconstructed. I now doubt my abilities to put it back together.
