When I was thinking of leaving hospital medicine, I was feeling lost.

I didn't ask for support but I wasn't offered any either.

Remember, a SAS doctor is for life, not just SAS week.

#SASsix
SAS six infographic, featuring the six asks to make a SAS career a viable alternative. Every early career SAS doctor should have access to an educational supervisor. All SAS doctors should have equity of access to professional development opportunities relevant to their stage of career. All specialty doctors who meet the required capabilities should have the opportunity to become specialists. Senior SAS doctors should be offered the opportunity to be educators at every level on a par with consultants e.g. educational supervisors, clinical supervisors, directors of medical education. All extended roles in leadership and management should be open to all substantive medical staff that is, consultants and appropriately experienced SAS doctors. All LEDs employed for more than two years within one NHS employer should be offered the opportunity to transfer to the appropriate SAS contract.

If you're still looking...I have recently found Saint & Sofia - I have the Keller trousers for work - quality jersey fabric and comfortable - expensive ++, but they wash well and don't bobble.

Thank you for sharing.

Doctors are human too - some will need to take extended time away from their careers. This shouldn't mean the end of a career in medicine.

We should recognise the value of returners and returnships, and offer support to return.

It's great to see this published!

'The BMJ has spoken to several doctors who have faced difficulties in returning to practice after extended periods away. Many agreed that the toughest part was knowing where to start.'
