If you want to know how you write music in VR, drop by and ask. That's my next task. We're open Wed-Sundays 11-4pm. See you tomorrow, & onward!

that means the post-production has started. I'm already working on mapping all the textures onto the new sculpture, and I'll be writing a soundtrack for it -- in VR of course -- sometime this coming week! 🧵

Days have blurred into a week or so, it's been busy at Arts Space Ballarat! Here are some nice pictures from the last week or so, & an update on the brand new VR artwork I've been sculpting live in the gallery! The sculpt is now finished, BUT THAT MEANS...🧵

Work on the new artwork continues in between zingers...

Wanna see what it looks like? I'm about half way through the sculpt now. Drop by and have a look! Not in Ballarat? No worries! I'll unveil the artwork at the end of the exhibition virtually/online as well. <3

Day 9 at Arts Space Ballarat. Lots of walk-ins, w/ lots of poetic & philosophical questions. Was interesting to have deep conversations on the nature of the universe, power, equality, & reality w/ visitors to the exhibition.

We are back on Wednesday 31st, 11-4pm, but we'll have Thurs 1st of Jan off for New Year's Day! Then back again from Sat 3rd-Sun 4th Jan. Can't believe it's almost 2026!

❤ Was so pleased to share these works with some more local artists who dropped by to see. Thanks for making the time, was lovely to meet some of you and see the others!

Day #7 at Art Space Ballarat. 🙂 I often wish there were 2 of me to get all the things done. This video must be wishful thinking...

Was lovely to meet a few of you I've interacted with on social media in the flesh, & to be able to share these works with you. ❤ Looking forward to tomorrow! Open Sunday from 11am-4pm. Drop by & check it all out. <3

Day #6. Busy busy busy today! Lots of other artists & old friends dropping by today, both locally & from Melbourne. Got some work done on the new VR artwork before lunch, but really enjoyed demonstrating how it all worked to a few interested parties!

Want to see what it looks like? You’ll have to drop in and see it in person. Open Wed–Sun, 11am–4pm, until Jan 25.

Don't worry if you're not local -- wait til it's finished & I'll do a grand reveal eventually, virtually. <3

The new VR artwork is really starting to take shape! For anyone who thinks the computer does it all for you: it absolutely does not. These virtual sculptures take many sessions, days, weeks. Every strand of hair is sculpted by hand.

Day #5 at Arts Space Ballarat for Torn Textures & Hybrid Glyphs was Boxing Day. I expected slow foot traffic, but it ended up being much busier than I thought! Wound up having some nice long conversations with some interesting local artists who came in, curious about wtf is this?

One of the cool things about the XR Elite are the built-in diopters, so I can set it to my prescription myself. No glasses needed underneath the headset. I got a lot done on the artwork & met a few people before closing for Christmas Day.

Because I was anticipating a longer sculpting session today, I used my HTC XR Elite instead of the Quest 3. Both headsets do different things well, but the XR Elite is lighter & I find it better suited for extended work sessions, personally.

Day #4 at Arts Space Ballarat was Christmas Eve (so, I'm posting late now). I expected slower foot traffic, which meant more time to focus on sculpting in VR & creating live in the gallery. Made good progress on the new artwork!

Thanks to Creative City Ballarat, Anindita Banerjee Ray & the Hidden Festival, Kathy Horvat, Tara Poole, & the wider Ballarat creative community for ongoing support.

Special thanks to Kylie Supski—collaborator, constant support, & co-writer on Ouroboros. 2025 has been an extraordinary year.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the Australian XR awards tonight as I’m currently working onsite at my solo exhibition, “Torn Textures & Hybrid Glyphs”, now in its first week at Arts Space Ballarat.

Both Corpus Spectralis & Ouroboros are on display.

• Australian XR Fest = national event, hosted in a different Australian city each yr. TODAY Corpus Spectralis won Best in Digital Art, w/ Ouroboros also selected as a finalist.

• QLD XR Fest = separate festival, in Brisbane, LAST MONTH. Corpus Spectralis was a Finalist for Best in Digital Art.

WOW! Today has been *a day* & 2025 has been quite the year. I’m thrilled to share that “Corpus Spectralis” has won the Best in Digital Art Award at the Australian XR Awards, announced tonight in Melbourne.

Because there are similarly named XR events, a quick clarification follows in the thread. 🧵

VISPO works are 29×29cm fine art prints, edition 1/1, mounted on wood panel & finished with resin — $222 AUD each.
If you’re in Ballarat today, come check out the art or try some VR. I’m working on a new VR piece too! & back at it on Xmas Eve & then again on Boxing Day thru the weekend.
December 21, 2025 at 10:24 AM
Available at the exhibition:
An A2 Fine Art Print of “Ouroboros” (edition of 5)
$400 AUD framed / $350 AUD unframed.

I also have 48 Visual Poetry (VISPO) works on display — standalone artworks that later become textures for my virtual sculptures.
December 21, 2025 at 10:22 AM
Good news for Ballarat though 👀
Both “Ouroboros” and “Corpus Spectralis” are screening here as well, at the same time. Drop in, have a look, and ask me questions about process, meaning, or why there are so many snakes…

Day #3 of “Torn Textures & Hybrid Glyphs” at Arts Space Ballarat ✨
Wishing for a teleportation device today, because the Australian XR Festival is also on in St Kilda — where I’m thrilled to have 2 works selected as finalists in the Digital Art category: “Ouroboros” & “Corpus Spectralis”.
December 21, 2025 at 10:19 AM
I’ll be back in the gallery, sculpting away and answering all your VR art & VISPO questions from 11am-4pm TOMORROW, Sunday 21st December. Drop in if you’re local!
