We find ourselves thanking God for so much in our lives. Gratitude awakens us to beauty or the importance of little things that happen along the way. Gratitude is sacred. It is the path to comfort, peace compassion, happiness, and all the sacred moments in our lives. It is the path to faith.

The more we become aware of our gratitude, the easier it is to feel grateful during the day - even days that are difficult. Soon we feel grateful for the lesson or the outcome we thought we didn’t want. Gratitude eventually becomes a natural part of every day.

I was taught to write down 3 things I was grateful for in my day. Some days it was hard for me to find one, and other days I thought of many more. Why do we write these things daily? Because we are developing a new habit. It helps to pray before writing. We ask God for help with our list.

Our gratitude can be as simple as feeling warm on a cold day, or having food to eat, or having a friend. It doesn’t matter where we begin, it’s just important that we find something positive in our lives.

Beginning a gratitude practice requires daily work.

Gratitude doesn’t change our circumstances; it changes our perspective. It opens us to hope, to acceptance, to anwers and solutions, to comfort, to our hearts, and to faith. No matter how awful things are, we find something good in our lives. This is where practice comes into the picture.

We can have a pity party, or react with raw emotion, or search for gratitude. The first 2 choices take us down a rabbit hole that gets deeper and makes everything worse; or we can find gratitude that changes darkness into glimpses of light.

Gratitude is not always easy. When life becomes hard and negativity seems to surround us, or we feel grief and loss, or we miss out on something we think we deserved, or nothing is going our way, or emotions like anger and envy and resentment are building inside of us, we have a choice.

Then boom! Life becomes difficult. Nothing seems to fulfill what we want, and whatever we do or say turns out wrong. All of a sudden we don’t feel gratitude. Everything in our day is dark. This is when gratitude is more than a feeling. It is a practice.

The more you practice the art of thankfulness, the more you have to be thankful for.” — Norman Vincent Peale

Being grateful is a feeling; but it is also a practice. It’s easy to feel gratitude when things are good and everything seems to to be going our way. Life is easy.

Do you know what your purpose is in your life? Do you use God’s gift to make a difference? What a great feeling to fulfill our God given purpose.

Using our gift to help others, to better our world, and to be an example of the Divine, we are glorifying God. When I use my gift and know that it made a difference with others, I feel such peace. I feel close to God. I feel love for myself and for others. There is nothing more sacred than that.

God gives each of us a gift, also known as a purpose. It is a sacred gift. God wants us to use this gift to help others. When we identify this purpose and we share our gift with others, we are doing God’s work. God blesses us in so many ways. Using our gifts is a way of sending thanks back to God.

This woman brought motherly love into their lives. She showed them their worth, reflected their potential back to them, and believed in them. As we finished our visit, she realized her life did have a purpose and she helped others with her talent. She had served God after all.

She kept talking about how she seemed to be a mother figure for many young people. Many of her son’s friends called her mom. People often recognized a mothering talent that helped youngsters. We explored this part of her life. Many of the young people around her had negative family experiences.

I was meeting with a new hospice patient this week, and we were getting to know each other. As she was facing the end of her life, she wondered if she had accomplished anything? Did her life serve any purpose? We spoke about patterns in her life and how she helped others.

“The Lord has made everything for its purpose.” Proverbs 16:4

How many times have we thought about our purpose in life? Have we felt a calling toward something? Do we have certain talents or gifts that come naturally?

I will write a new post at least twice a week. Each post will contain a quote and some thoughts about the quote. I encourage you to read it and think about it as you go through your day. I hope these posts become a reminder to pause and take a breath. Sweet blessings and know that God loves you.

Our earth is sacred, all of God’s creations are sacred, and life is sacred. I think we recognize the wonders around us; but our days take over and we forget to recognize the sacred that is around us and in us. I hope these posts help us to pause and remember that sacredness is in every moment.

Hi. This page is called: Sacredness - Every Moment Is Sacred. I have the same page on FB. Currently I’m on FB, but in case I drop it, I wanted to keep the same topic and posts going. The only thing is that I’m limited with word counts. So my posts might need to be broken up into several posts.
