I hope to start trying more interesting and reference patterns in my dinosaurs, and not just use JP. I’ve done it before and wasn’t too happy (Guanlong just doesn’t fit with blue), but I hope to try to pick better options. Trying to find motivation for the ZT Iguanodon

Meganeura are giant Carboniferous dragonflies, although technically aren’t. They’re an extinct clade called Griffinflies. Meganeura was highly predatory, and one of the largest flying invertebrates ever, with a wingspan of 4 feet.

Meganeura itself was highly predatory, and one of the largest flying invertebrates ever, with a wingspan of 4 feet. Neura’s are admittedly fairly short for being apex predators. A Duna would destroy a Neura, but neura’s have one massive advantage over Carboniferanna. Flight. Neura’s on any other island would be noteworthy, but not apex, but on Carboniferanna, they’re an absolute menace. If you hear buzzing above, you better hope she hasn’t spotted you yet. They’re insanely strong for their size and love to use that to their advantage, lifting you off the ground.. and dropping you. They’ve even been known to work together with other predators, mainly spiders, and split the meal afterwards.

Palaeopanthera is a big cat from Asia. At first it was thought to be related to a snow leopard, but in 2017 it was reexamined and determined to not actually be in the Panthera genus, although closely related.

Blytha’s are cocky, arrogant, and obnoxious. They’re cheats, and will always make the first move, though they don’t use it to attack. They believe themselves to be invincible, using their blue patterns to act like they can’t be hit. Unfortunately, it works. They love tearing you down while flaunting the fact you cannot touch them, although those that can see through their arrogance love to shut them down. It’s just unfortunate that not many *can* find a way through her arrogance.

Irritator is an early cretaceous spinosaurid. it was named irritator due to how obnoxious it was for paleontologists to piece back together based on the remains that were dug up. paleontologists realized they were elongating the snout with pieces that belonged elsewhere on irritator.

Irri's live up to their name. They're extremely territorial, especially of other Spinosaurids. They simply don't want the chaos that comes up with them. They have been seen to tolerate Bary's and Sucho's, but Spina's are simply unwanted and chased out of their territory. Irri's love deep wetlands and have been found to swim in the murky water. Their tails are translucent when the light hits them, giving them an orange glow during the sunset. Irri's use this to scare off Spina's by waving the tail back and forth while swimming, trying to emulate fire on the water.

In honor of @fsoas.bsky.social , the extinct animal this week is Hallucigenia!
Hallucigenia Hallu Hallucination/Dream-Like hallucigenia is a Cambrian.. something. The closest it’s been labeled as is an early arthropod. That’s one issue with Cambrian animals, we have no fucking idea what this thing really is. They were tiny little things covered in spikes. Originally when their fossils were found, they were reconstructed upside down as if they were on stilts. Hallu’s are very skittish girls. They curl up in a ball and show off their spikes whenever any sort of shadow passes over them. They’ll hide like this for hours. Often times they might hide so long they start to starve. However, according to one adamant source, hallu’s cannot look behind them because they’re always moving forward to smite their enemies. We’re.. unsure the validity of this.

Giganotosaurus is the last of the three megatheropods, the largest terrestrial carnivores to walk the earth. They ruled South America. Giganotosaurus stands as one of the final Carcharodontosaurs only superseded by Mapusaurus, assumed to be a near direct descendant.

Gyga’s have a rivalry with Rexxi’s, although not nearly as bitter as the Spina rivalry. Gyga’s and Rexxi’s respect each other. Their rivalry is one of equal strength instead of rage. While they do compete, and sometimes fight, Gyga’s are the only things on the island that could stand a fighting chance to take down a Rexxi. Despite coming close once however, there’s never been a lethal attack between them. Their fights have only ever led to one casualty, and it was a Gyga. Some of them hold bitterness over this, others understand the loss was fair. The bitterness comes from outside interference in the fight from a Terri. This is their second rivalry, and it’s a significantly more bitter one. Gyga’s attack Terri’s on sight, and aim specifically not to kill them, but to tear their claws off. Rexxi’s and Gyga’s see each other as equals and tend to leave the other’s territory alone, coexisting on different sides of the island with a fragile peace.

Ember, Little Eatie, Big Eatie, Rexy, Buck, Junior, Doe, and Bull

The Mythocene Rexes These eight Tyrannosaurus rex are the fiercest creatures on the mythocene island. If you dare see even a single one of them, it might be too late. In order from left to right; Ember- You can often find Ember asleep on a riverbank. It’s her favorite spot, although Dilla’s love to be nearby and mess with her. She’s curious, and tends to follow anything that drifts past her in the water. Little Eatie- the Daughter of Big Eatie, they’re never separated. Big Eatie- A caring mother, always with her daughter. After losing her mate, she clings onto her remaining family tightly. Do not mess with Little Eatie, or you will be eaten. Rexy- The leader of the pack. She’s survived battles with the biggest of the big, shrugging off raptors, giganotos, and even putting the Spino in its place on the island. Bit of a show off, loves to pose overlooking her territory and roar. Buck, Junior, and Doe- another family unit. Buck is still recovering from an incident involving amphetamines, and as such has a hair trigger. Doe often keeps him in check, especially around junior, but it suits them nicely if something dare happens to their little one. Junior still walks a little weirdly from a broken leg as a hatchling. Bull- Bull is mysterious, haunting Spinosaurus territory. Once being very close to buck and doe, she now wanders and torments her killer in any way she can. Has been occasionally spotted on the Cretaceous island messing with the spinosaurs there. Is the only one seen able to leave the mythocene island. #paleoart #jurassicpark #trex
