I wouldn't count it out. The City has faced challenges numerous times in its past and has found a way to bounce back and succeed. I'm confident this legislation will be a part of its future success.

The State of New York is still the 10th largest economy in the world, almost assuredly there is still a profit to be made for the fossil fuel industry and unfortunately I suspect there will be for many years to come.

New York is a very big market and if they leave, other companies not subject to the assessment would almost assuredly fill in the void.

Oil prices aren't set locally, they're a global commodity. In addition, we're already paying all of it though our tax dollars.
