Amen to that.

There was, formerly, a great med twitter community that Vinay was a rather prominent part of. That’s only gone post-Musk, honestly.

It wasn’t always like that. This happened to Prasad well pre-Musk.

Absolutely. IMO academic brain is actually MORE susceptible: the most egregious examples of Twitter brain are people certain they are always the smartest person in the room. Academics selects for that type, as does tech. I dont think it’s coincidence that Stanford is rife with these.

Prasad is exhibit A of Twitter brain. Someone needs to do a detailed case report tracking his decline from reasonable skeptic of high price oncology drugs with questionable outcomes to COVID mask skeptic to full on vaccine skeptic. It was all in plain site on Twitter, and a hell of thing to see.

The phrasing of the article is really frustrating. A lot of suggestion that business not using AI is the problem, as opposed to businesses correctly clocking that it is not a useful product except in niche cases.

Look, if your 7 year old is powerfully enough to see Jupiter and Saturn, you can probably get by without a telescope

Fuck everything about the term “chief people officer”

Hard agree. It’s the thing that’s worried me the most, and seemed to have gone completely unnoticed in mainstream

As someone that’s pretty keenly attuned to this, the millers and Vance’s of the world dropped the “illegal” from immigrants quite a while ago.

There need to be prosecutions of those in ICE responsible for this, up and down the chain. Bare minimum public naming and shaming of every single one.

And SIMPLE urban schools. So many cities have these arcane systems where you CAN get a good school but navigating them is like a full time job. That’s why we left the city. Miss it - but can’t fathom trying to navigate several kids through the system.

Always worth the reminder that this a-hole is the source of the bullshit “medical errors 2nd leading cause of death” stat, which was derived with rigor that gives a bad name to “back of the envelope” math.

Don’t have access to article; same amt TNFi used? Common (irrational IMO) practice to avoid TNFI in pts with + ANA.

Tyler Cowen: the stupidest question possible
Sam Altman: the stupidest answer possible

Yes, agree on that!

AMA is just the worst.

In their defense, however (rare for me to do): they have invited every other CMS head to speak at their conference, and generally CMS head does come. So it is a bit of a no-win for them here, politically.
