Over two days of talks, participants shared and discussed the challenges and opportunities in reviving and sustaining Jewish and Holocaust Studies teaching and research in their institutions and cultivating leadership potential within the field.

The workshop in Belgrade convened experienced academics overseeing Jewish and Holocaust studies programmes in Britain, Western Europe, and Southeastern Europe (including Romania, Greece, and Serbia).

The purpose of the conference was to initiate discussions about a transnational partnership between scholars (and their institutes) whose research and teaching focuses on Jewish and Holocaust Studies in the UK and Southeastern Europe.

In the final workshop, Dr Becky Jinks led the group through an interesting discussion about the establishment of the UN Genocide Convention and the role of geopolitics.

Our second session was led by Professor Barry Langford who discussed contemporary cinematic representations of the Holocaust.

The penultimate workshop with Professor Bob Eaglestone explored Holocaust-related novels published in the last five years.

Our first topic was '"Liberation" after 80 Years' with Professor Dan Stone, and participants discussed the complicated path of 'liberation', the psychology of survivors after the war, and children's experiences after the Holocaust.

Over the last four weeks we have held a series of workshops at the @wienerlibrary.bsky.social‬ for heritage professionals, museum workers, journalists, teachers, NGO workers, education practitioners and students interested to learn more about current scholarship in Holocaust Studies.

Prof. Padel will read from her book, 'Daughters of the Labyrinth' and Dr Chronakis will share excerpts from his new work, 'The Business of Transition'. Both scholars will engage in a discussion on the multifaceted presence of Jews in early-twentieth century Greece.
