This was hard for her mum to explain on several levels.

Ridiculous. How can they think that this is preferable to half a pence on income tax?

It’s an anti-climate policy if they freeze fuel duty. If they increase it by the equivalent of 3p per mile then it will be a climate neutral policy (and let’s hope they do that).

The logic is surely that petrol cars already pay per mile via fuel duty, and the politics mean that it’s easier to only apply to EVs. They could probably apply it to new petrol cars though so that they don’t disincentive new EVs.

Got to be that I’m not on TikTok, and don’t have the slightest interest in going on it (I’m 21 for context).

Also I do actually believe that 1.5mn houses could be built on brownfield land but that is the homes we need to build in this parliament. Therefore even if we’d listen to them we’d still need to build on greenfield by the next parliament. Much more sensible to build on a combination from the start.

How likely is it that the next DL will be appointed DPM? Will it be seen as Starmer ‘ignoring the members’ if they are not?
