Target announced it will be closing 9 stores across the country, they say because of violence and theft. 3 of those stores are here in Portland, one in Galleria, one in the Hollywood district, and one in Southeast Powell.

last Nov. voters passed Measure 114, a set of gun control reforms. It's been held up by legal challenges since. Yesterday the most recent trial against it finished and we're waiting for a decision.

The owner of a local bar and grill was robbed recently in the St. john's neighborhood. The security footage shows a man threatening employees with a machete. Right now police have not identified a suspect and are still investigating.

It's sad to see local businesses close down, like these 5 breweries, but apparently customer habits over the pandemic changed and people aren't buying from craft breweries the same way.

According to the PPA, a settlement has been reached in the lawsuit brought by frmr PDX City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty against the union. Court docs dont include settlement amounts. Hardesty hasn't responded to KGW's inquiry. more details/context here: www.kgw.com/article/news...

This Oregon veteran has his veteran disability benefits fraudulently stolen out of his Direct Express account. Initially D.E. said the charges looked clean. It took KGW asking questions for them to say they'd give it another look and refund him.

PPS voted to fire middle school teacher Bryan Chu, who had been on paid leave for a year and a half over numerous complaints about him. Chu said he wasn't surprised, and would seek arbitration.

Effective october 11th, Chuck Lovell will no longer be police chief. He said that Wheeler's announcement that he would not be running again, created an "ideal moment to step away" Bob Day will serve as interim police chief.

A Oregon man was found guilty on 8 charges for what he did during the Jan 6th riot. He was convicted on 4 felony charges and 4 misdemeanor charges.

this woman was using a foam roller just like every morning when she felt sharp pains and couldn't move, but doctors at OHSU were able to get her back and walking again in 6 days.

I call this Grand Theft Nautica: a suspect stole a Fire Rescue boat from Portland this morning, before taking it on a joyride all the way to Kalama and beaching it. He's now in custody.

Today Mayor Ted Wheeler said he won't be running for a third term as mayor. He says its so he can direct all his attention over the last 15 months of his term on re-shaping the city gov & tackling critical issues.
