24 Days of Jam #14: Mango-Ginger. Verrry nice, with the sweetness and texture of the Mango and the bite of the Ginger. A bit more of the latter would be nice, but a great combo overall.

24 Days of Jam #13: Apricot Honey Spread. Kind of baffled by this: why put two sweet things together? It's nice enough, but there is no taste contrast or texture.

24 Days of Jam: #12. Redcurrant-Raspberry Spread. Clear jams & jellies always seem wrong to me. It defeats the purpose somehow, which is to enjoy the fruit. To misquote a famous philosopher, "give me taste in my jellies / But leave in the lumps and the seeds, please"

24 days of Jam #10: Wild Blueberry-Lychee-Rose Spread. Lovely, with the rose adding a nice sharp aftertaste. I could not taste the Wild, though.

Day 9: Madagascar Vanilla Caramel Spread. Like honey mixed with instant pudding. Not a big fan.

(Yes I know I am running behind. I’ve been busy, but will catch up)

Day 8 : White Nectarine-Peach-Lemon Verbana Spread. A nice fruity combination, even if it is a pain to type. I initially read the name as “Velma”, which made me check the ingredients. Scooby dooby doo!

Day 7 : Caramel Coffee spread. Would not have worked on a bagel, but fortunately the test substrate today was pancakes. Yum, with a nice coffee kick.

Day 6:Apricot-Lavender. Nice, but the Lavender was too subtle. If you are gonna add a flavor, make it noticeable.

Day 5: Apple-Caramel-Cinnamon Spread. Nice, but too sweet. The caramel doesn’t really add anything.
December 5, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Day 4: Cherry-Violet leaves spread. Not bad, but I don’t really taste the leaves.
December 4, 2025 at 2:18 PM
Day 3: Plum-Pear-Star Anise. Excellent, with just enough Anise to give it a slight licorice taste, but not too much to overwhelm the plum sweetness.
December 3, 2025 at 7:14 PM
Day 2: Fig-Cardamon spread. Lovely, with a nice balance of sweet figs and spice.

Happy December! That means it is time to start reviewing the contents of my Bonne Maman advent calendar! First up is Wild Blueberry and Maple Syrup spread. Interesting, but not really successful: too strong sweet and sour flavors that don’t mesh.

I just tried these dinosaur dance moves on my wife and she was not that impressed. “We can tell they had two moves so far…When this happened three or more times a few of these show a counter-clockwise turn, kind of like the moonwalk with a little spin." apple.news/A3bFT7AszS_q...

I think that Vaughn is onto something here: “…they’re not more than tools. Understanding that LLMs are meaning-making tools — not totipotent entities with their own agency — makes many design principles for using LLMs fall into place. “

So I decided to tear up the nasty vinyl tile in my entry way to see if there was a nice wood floor underneath. Yay, there is! Except… someone painted it black. (Other wood floor at top, entryway floor at bottom)
