I wouldn't normally mention an obvious "I know what you mean" typo, but "H.R. Lovecraft" makes me think of an unholy combination of H.P. Lovecraft and H.R. Pufnstuf.

I use Startpage for most searches, with G**gle as a last resort. I was going to check out Kagi (a for-pay service that some smart friends used) until they started with the AI spiel as well.
