I can't remember if it was the original demo, or if it was just a trailer that was on a coverdisc at the time before they released playable code, just that it was the first video I saw of the game way back in the day.

I'm just relieved that I never got around to doing it for Crap Shoot. It was on my list for a year or so, but there just wasn't enough game to get an interesting text-based write-up for it beyond 'this is really stupid and dull'.

I'm very comfortable with Ink and happily recommend it to everyone I talk to! I just wish I hadn't made some really stupid mistakes early on that I'm still paying for :-)

My suspicion is that I'll have a burst of passionate "I will write my own scripting system!" optimism and then a month later be "...or I could use Ink again."

Yeah. I have no idea what my next project is, but I definitely need to spend some more time at the start of it on tools. Turns out that a billion words of script is quite hard to keep in your head/VSCode :-)

Yeah. For me, it's really more about being able to visualise things once the script gets past a certain point. Even then, you can do a ton of stuff with @tool scripts and just processing the raw text of the .ink files.

Something I really need to do next time is find a better way of handling this stuff than epic script files! I feel like half of the project is database functions at this point...

(At this point I can't upgrade anyway, it's very much the point of the project where ripping out a major subsystem for an upgrade is code-crime :-))
