So $300 million of private money went into renovating Rogers Centre, and it’s now hosting a World Series. Meanwhile, in Montreal, $1 billion of public money is going to put a new roof on the Big O, so it can host a boat show and maybe a monster truck rally.

So I go to the checkout at Pharmaprix and the cute young woman ringing up my order turns to me and asks: “You’re not a senior, are you?”
