Good design podcast recommendations?

I enjoy hearing about folks making stuff with thoughtful intent.

99 Percent Invisible is the gold standard here.

I listen to design-like podcasts in other fields: food/music/fashion…

Thanks!

Also works great for buttering tiny toasts

So Iceland is kind of the greatest hits of geological awe?

Fun fact, this formation on Reynisfjara beach was one of the OG references for terrain details for FRACT.

Ah fark. Also my 9yo had to explain a new meme paradigm to me today. Just turned 44.

According to my 12yo, her friends call us the ‘hot parents’ so not all is lost.

Excellent new music PSA @doseone.bsky.social’s new Album, All Portrait, No Chorus is incredible. Not only does it have a murderers row of stunning collaborators, but it stays tight, cohesive & feels like a considered sonic space/place/time. All killer no filler!

Steam year in review is 🧐. Been hearing various representations of these numbers as they seem to be on everyone's mind - interesting stuff (if open to a bleak interpretation).

Seems in line with another stat I've heard the vast majority of playtime is owned by games 3+ years old. Good luck folks

Fun fact - I love a good scented candle. Quynh and I started making our own and this is maybe my fav so far. Notes of cardamom, bone ash, and tobacco.

Wow, I dare you to make a game as good as Lil Gator Game.

I knew it was good, picked up for my youngest daughter - did not expect to be almost brought to tears multiple times. Though I am a big softie.

Fuck, what an achievement this thing is.

This family has standards to uphold - made her a big ol skull hoodie for her 9th bday. No tigers gonna sneak up on us! 💀

Weirdest comment/compliment/diss I’ve ever gotten?!? Stuck with me as I’m not sure how to parse it: pair of neighborhood dads, intelligent, kind, weird guys. They were 70% joking 30% serious

Dad1: “See, I told you, this guy has to be CIA or CSIS”

Dad2: “Richard, are you CIA or something?”

🤔

I’m a big proponent of well considered, purpose built, interfaces, and love a well executed device that can do more with less.

Sometimes I do crave the opposite: a brutalist sea of knobs and buttons that looks like it came from a cold war era submarine. I’m a freak, but this is inspiring to me 🤷‍♂️

Some military grade narcissism, 5 hours of it! But yeah, wild to think we released this thing a decade ago!

Attempting to cobble together some sort of 10 year retrospective on FRACT OSC. If anyone has questions drop at the link, or here? This account doesn’t quite have the same reach, but y’all seem

I have three game ideas that I like equally, and have been simplifying them to their fundamental parts. They would share a lot of gamefeel and tooling despite being very, very different things.

Tempted to attempt to start all three. What could go wrong?

Was tidying ye olde hard drive and found this short talk I did on synaesthesia last year. The ideal tool for those curious as to what the world sounds, looks and tastes like to me (hmm, that sounds gross)

I am rotten with synthesizers and gear I never have time to use, but the industrial design of the new Yamaha SEQTRAK is really doing it for me
